Rating: Summary: A great book for day gecko owners Review: McKeown's book is loaded with so much useful and important information that it could easily be considered the Phelsuma owner's bible. Every detail of day gecko husbandary is covered in this book, and it has a large number of beautiful photos illustrating almost every day geckos species known, with a few exceptions. If you are thinking of buying a day gecko or two, I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Contains tons of info on Phelsuma Review: Though not the most up to date piece of literature on keeping day geckos (genus Phelsuma), this book is well worth buying if you're interested in keeping them. It's the best Phelsuma book in the English language. In its pages, readers will find all the information they need on proper housing, feeding, and breeding techniques of Phelsuma in captivity. Details on how both retailers and private reptile keepers can manage their animals abound. Mckeown writes in a scientific format that is enjoyable and different from the usual dry writings found in many of the textbooks relating to the care of reptiles in captivity. At the same time, Mckeown does not write in the lame manner that so many authors of cheap reptile books do these days. Dispite the fact that it's older than many of the other day gecko books available, this book is easily the best. It's well written, organized, and enjoyable. The photographs are great and the author's writing style is superb. A must-have in any reptile enthusiast's library.
Rating: Summary: Only second best Review: to the world of Phelsuma is this book. Though generally very helpful and nice, some of the info (especially latin names) is not up to date, some species are missing (Phelsuma Pronki, Phelsuma Masohoala etc.) due to their recent discovery. If you are able of reading german, I can only advise you to get a copy of the amazing book: Faszinierende Taggeckos - Gattung Phelsuma Authors: Hallmann/Krueger/Trautmann This is the bible of Phelsuma friends.
