Rating: Summary: Not just for Dummies! Review: As the President of The Dachshund Rescue Web Page, inc., I have long been seeking a book that would be helpful to those individuals who have chosen to add a dachshund to their lives through rescue. This book is it! Written in a clear and understandable format, Ms. Adamson has captured the idiosyncracies of this special little breed in a manner that will prove valuable not only to the new dachshund owner, but to the person who has been owned by a dachshund for years. A copy of this book will be going to each new home with every dachshund placed by the organization in the future. It's that valuable a resource!
Rating: Summary: Particularly good if you have very young puppies Review: My family got this book before we got our dachie, and I thought it was really informative. It explains the little actions of a dachshund really well. I definitely recommend this to first time owners. It's helped my family a lot!
Rating: Summary: Only OK--just a formula Review: This book is a cookie cutter type of book where they insert the word "dachshund" where ever the breed of dog is supposed to go. It's about 95% general dog information and about 5% dachshund breed specific. (It's probably not just dachshunds, either, but for dogs that are "earth dogs"--meaning digging type of dogs, be they dachshunds, beagles, terriers, etc.) It's about what you would expect from a "Something for Everyone" Dummies book.
Rating: Summary: A must for the new dachshund owner Review: This book is a must if you are thinking of getting a dachshund or already lucky enough to own one. Ms. Adamsom is true to mark in her bright, funny descriptions of these terrific little dawgs. (Remember dachshunds don't know they're d--s.) I laughed out loud when she said" If i see it it's mine, if I touch it , it's mine, if I think it's mine-- it's mine" just like my dachshund. This is his house, yard,, street etc, etc, And yes he's very particular about his food-- he doesn't know he has poor taste buds. Thanks to Ms. Adamson, I have a much better understanding of my dawg--- now if only he could understand me!!
Rating: Summary: A must have for every dachshund owner Review: This book is wonderful for the first time owner of dachshunds. Very informative, easy to understand and fun to read. The writers are very delightful in their description of the unique personality of the playful, vivacious and often mischievious dachshund.
Rating: Summary: The only Dachshund book you'll ever need Review: Until I bought this book, I didn't realize that taking care of my new Dachshund wasn't just like taking care of any other dog. This book tells you all the unique and individual things you need to know to keep your Dachshund healthy, happy, and to train him, plus it's got a lot of great general dog information, too. This is the only Dachshund book you'll ever need!
