Rating: Summary: Great information....50 years ago. Review: All the gushing reviews about this writer being the "father of dog training", or whatever, fail to mention that dog training has advanced by leaps and bounds in the past 40 or 50 years. So when a writer is using fairly cruel methods to train a dog ( and causing the dog needless pain and suffering ) most dog trainers that a) aren't 80 years old, or b) actually kept up with the changes in dog training, are going to rightly dicount using stone age training methods. Welcome to the 1980's, readers - much better training methods ( and books ) exist now. Pass up this useless historic tome and spend your money on a book that works!

Rating: Summary: Complete waste of time Review: Save your money, this book is neither entertaining or informative. You can learn more by searching the internet under "dog training" than this book could teach you in two weeks.

Rating: Summary: Bad Technique Poorly Explained Review: There are several books about dog tricks available today. Of those, this is the least helpful. Haggerty is a poor communicator, and his instructions are difficult to follow and buried in uninteresting chatter. Anyone with a rudimentary understanding of dog training theory will be able to ad-lib better, more elegant ways of teaching.
As a final insult, there aren't even 125 tricks in this book! Haggerty cheats and lists random ideas as tricks.
Rating: Summary: Great Fun and Variety! Review: This is a book that contains a wonderful variety of tricks for every type of dog. I espcially liked the appendix at the end that shows the tricks that are suitable for specific breeds. There are more tricks than you'll ever need for your dogs, and they work!!!
Rating: Summary: There are better books out there! Review: What a book...every family DOG should buy this for his/her owner! Written by the ever interesting and captivating "Cap" (Captain Haggerty), this is NOT a mere "trick book", but instead, a tool for keeping the excitement in dog training and ownership, and keeping boredom out! BUY IT!
