Rating: Summary: Perfect !! Review: Exactly what I hoped it would be. I was able to id several inherited pieces, as well any missing pieces from the sets, some I did not know exsisted. I highly recommend it. The layout with pages, row, and item numbers made it a very easy to use book. The photos are very well done, and the divisions by both color and item are terrific. It covers a lot, reamers, shakers, measuring cups and bowls, cheese and butter holders, even electric appliances which had glass parts. This is the very first time I have ever seen a GLASS IRON!! You will not regret buying this book.
Rating: Summary: Just What I Was Looking For Review: Fantastic book. While I agree with another reviewer that the organization could be better(oooo, with cross-indexing!!) this is such a spectacularly useful book that I don't hold that against it. It is everything I hoped it would be when I ordered it; I have on hand at least 15 different types of depression shaker/cannister, and all are in the book. Of course I was delighted! There are also dozens and dozens of pieces of listed that I have come across at auction, along with some spectacular stuff that I have never seen before and that is a delight to see.
Rating: Summary: A good book, BUT Review: I have several glass reference books, and all of them by the incomparable glass expert Gene Florence. He has not put out a reference yet, that is not worth buying. .............. As a long-time avid collector of many different forms of glass, this book is my perfect reference for the specialized area of collectible kitchen glassware. This reference goes by color, and then by items. It is easy to classify exactly what you are looking for, from reamers to rolling pins, you will find it. The pictures are a stunning visual array that will delight anyone who loves kitchen glass, or any kind of decorative glass. Years ago simple kitchen items were made in so many beautiful colors, and that is how I became interested in collecting this form of glass in addition to all the art glass, EAPG, milk glass, depression and handblown pieces in my vast collection. I have purchased books from the many Gene Florence editions available on those subjects too, and I can honestly say that you can't go wrong with any of his titles in whatever area of glass collecting interests you. Not only are the pictures wonderful and the text informative, but you can get an idea of values with the easy to follow detailed price guide that covers by color, and then pattern on various sets. Styles and objects of kitchenware are thoroughly covered by manufacturer too. If you are looking specifically for say Hazel Atlas, or Jeanette, Anchor Hocking, Fry and other popular manufacturers, they are easy to find listed. There are also rarities and reproductions to look out for in the closing. A great feature so that you don't pay for an antique that really isn't! ............. If you are a beginner, or an advanced collector you need this book. If you are in the business of selling collectible glass, here is your pricing guide to help you get the value of what the pieces are worth. Prices are for mint specimens of course, and that is stated. ................ As always, this Gene Florence edition is well worth a place in YOUR glass reference library.

Rating: Summary: Good reference, lacks organization. Review: Like many of Gene Florence's books, this one had accurate prices, good pictures and good descriptions, but awful organization. He starts with using colors to organize, then he goes to a few specific pieces, and then he goes to companies. It makes it hard to look up a piece that you have no idea what portion of the book it would be listed in.
Rating: Summary: A Great Updated Kitchen Glassware Reference Guide Review: New 272 page, hardcover volume with laminated covers. It features over 5,000 items, clearly pictured in color for ready reference. The period covers from the depression through the 1960's. Featured companies include: Anchor-Hocking, Fry, Hazel-Atlas, Jeannette, Pyrex, and more. There are inumerable patterns and colors. Items range from batter jugs and bowels, coffee and tea pots, ice buckets and knives, to salad sets, salt boxes, shakers, straw holders and water bottles. There is a "buyer beware" section covering reproductions. A very useful and informative reference.
Rating: Summary: A good book, BUT Review: This is a handy book, a lot of pieces shown, but I found one problem with the book. There is not enough info given on who actually made the pieces. I have found items, but not manufacturer, which is not a help when trying to accurately identify something. Some pieces have more info than others. It is a nice book though, the pictures are clear, in color and very easy to see. I just wish more info had been provided on who made some of the pieces.
Rating: Summary: THE definitive guide on kitchenware! Review: This is another WOWER from Mr.Gene Florence! This book goes into different types of sets of kitchenware.Everything is listed in colors:clear, white, red, black, etc. It then proceeds to go through all the milk glass,jade-ite,etc collections! It lists items I had never heard of or seen before.Just amazing! A wonderfully informative book!
