Summary: Classic Guide to Antique Cameras
Review: I have had the pleasure of owning (and still own) the 1976 Guide To Antique Cameras by Mckeown. It has been many years since then and the price for a guide has really risen. As an Antique dealer I found myself getting interested in collectible cameras once again. I knew I needed a guide and reviewed a 1996 copy a friend owned my McKeowen and was convinced this is the one to own. My library consists of at least 200 books on Antiques and 50 price guides on Art, Jewelry, clothing, Orientalia to name a few. I hesitated at the price for this guide, but after reasearching the options I knew this was the concise price guide for me. I own it and am happy I chose it and it makes me MONEY just owning it. I have 30 years of Amatuer collecting and selling under my belt and I really don't need a price guide just my wits, (that's what I told myself) but it just makes it soooo easy to reinforce my experience with a reference and value basis for my risks. Leica III,a,b,c,g, Mentor Reflex, Zeiss-Ikon Miroflex, Robot 35mm, Hasselblad, Kodak Field Cameras, Sept 35mm camera projector, TDC 3d projector & Nikon Cameras are a few of the cameras I have used this informational price guide in evaluating.

Summary: A MUST FOR ALL SERIOUS VINTAGE CAMERA COLLECTORS
Review: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS VINTAGE CAMERA COLLECTOR, YOU SHOULD NOT SPEND ANOTHER PENNY ON A CAMERA UNTIL YOU HAVE THIS BOOK! SINCE EASTERN EUROPE HAS DISSOLVED, A LOT OF PREVIOUSLY CONSIDERED RARE AND HIGH DOLLAR CAMERAS HAVE GONE DOWN IN VALUE. ALTHOUGH THIS MAY DISAPPOINT YOU, THE BOOK DOES A GOOD JOB OF SHOWING AND DESCRIBING A VARIETY OF THOSE CAMERAS MADE IN FORMER COMMUNIST COUNTRIES.MCKEOWN HAS ALSO INCREASED THE NUMBER OF NOVELTY CAMERAS SHOWN. IT HAS ALL OF THIS NEW INFORMATION WITHOUT SACRIFICING ANY INFO FROM THE PREVIOUS EDITION. THE ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT IS THE LARGE NUMBER OF TYPOS,ESPECIALLY IN THE DESCRIPTIPNS AND NAMES OF THE RUSSIAN CAMERAS. FORTUNATELY,THE MEANING IS NOT LOST.

Summary: Cameras in Alaska
Review: I use this book often, I have found that in addition to the obveous use (prise guide) there is a fair amount of history that helped with research. Contains much useful information.

Summary: ...
Review: Indeed an excellent value. Incredible listing of most of the collectible cameras made (for sure not all but thoroughness is impressive). It'll help create a wish list of what models to look for, and because it doesn't just focus on the most rare, most collectible pieces... it allows one to see through the, confusing at times, collectible market. Don't forget it comes with a... coupon for the next edition and an order coupon for a pocket edition.

Summary: McKeown Is One Of The Ultimate Authorities on Cameras
Review: Jim McKeown's books are the most comprehensive sources of accurate information on cameras in the world. Period. Other books may give more information on specific cameras, but if you are to have but one source to refer to,choose McKeown. He will never disappoint you.
Another wonderful camera expert and writer (they don't always go together) is Ivor Matanle. His two books are treasures. But if you want facts, go with McKeown. You will return over and over to his book. Speaking face to face with him is most rewarding. You realize you are learning from one of the world authorities.
Wonderful pictures, camera values (prices) rarity, etc. This book contains cameras even experts haven't heard about. But McKeown is the expert of experts, and you will keep this large, heavy, over 900 page book near just for the fun of reading it. Am I enthused? Yes! I have bought his books since the 4th edition in 1983-84, and always been pleased.
A lengthy review? Yes, but this book deserves much praise!

Summary: Camera Collector's Bible
Review: McKeown's Price Guide to Antique and Classic Cameras is the Bible for camera collectors. It is a must, since it contains almost all of the information needed to identify a camera, including, when it was made, any variations and a value of the camera. It will pay for it's self the within a very short time, maybe even the first time you use it to puchase and/or sell a camera.

Summary: The McKeown books are great.
Review: Obviously, I haven't read this latest edition of the price guide since it won't be available until April. I have purchased two previous editions and they were worth the money. I look forward to the release of the latest edition. Every camera collector should have this price guide. Unlike Lind's List Camera Price Guide and Master Data Catalog, this book gives good information and pictures to help you identify cameras and grow in knowledge. I haven't utilized my Lind's book, but I take my McKeown's book on every collecting expedition.

Summary: THE Definative Guide
Review: This is THE standard work in collecting although it (like any price guide) is out of date by the time it is published. Still, fascinating reading and a great way to ballpark prices.
