Summary: Good Advice for the Budget-minded
Review: "How to Have an Elegant Wedding for $5,000 or less" worked for us. I had a pretty wedding with an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception for 120 people for $4,055 this June 2004. And that included my elegant spaghetti-strapped split-front white gown from Kauffman's. I used fake/silk flowers - they lasted through the June sunshine and the photo shoot at the local prepatory school. And there's nothing wrong with borrowing or renting things, or even making them yourself. It cuts down on the costs and still provides the elegant effect you want. This book by Jan Wilson and Beth Wilson Hickman showed me that fact, and gave me many useful hints.

Summary: doesn't really offer tips on saving money
Review: Although this is rated high up there with the many top wedding advice books, this still isn't one of the best. My main and only problem of the book is where is the "budget" aspect of the book as it says in the title. They offer numerous and helpful tips and advice about planning a wedding, even an elegant wedding. But for those actually looking for advice on keeping a wedding under a limited budget, this isn't the book. For real and practical budget advice, I recomend Bridal Bargains by D. Fields.

Summary: Elegant Weddings under $5000
Review: Great tips! However, this book also shares the same information as Bridal Budgets and other books of this category. The print is easy on the eyes, unlike Bridal Budgets by Denise Fields, and is a little more easy to understand and actually do! I suggest this book before buying Bridal Budgets. It's very informative and less stressful to read.

Summary: Not what I expected!!
Review: I'm trying to start my own business as a wedding planner and my best friends sister is my first bride. I bought this book because they didn't want to spend to much on their wedding, budgeting at around $5,000. So, I decided to buy this book to help me out. I was very dissapointed that it didn't talk much about how to save money, although it did give me great ideas. It wasn't exactly what I expected from a book titled "How to have an elegant wedding for $5,000 or less". When you pick up the book you think that you will be able to plan an entire wedding on a $5,000 budget, or LESS. It was okay, but not the best I've bought.

Summary: Truly Elegant
Review: If you are really trying to throw a wedding for under 5,000 you can't afford this book. The book could have been called how to throw a wedding for 20,000 dollars. It really is a very basic wedding planner that has nothing to do with saving any money. The best book you could buy is Bridal Bargins. That book shows how to save money.

Review: This book should be titled something like: "Things to Think About When Planning a Wedding". It contained very little money saving tips, which is why I bought the book.
