Summary: great for beginners
Review: There are 16 scarf patterns and lots of advice especially for beginners so this would be a great book to start out with. My favorite scarf is the final one using a double decrease technique to form diamonds and it is explained very well. Lots of different yarns plus alternate yarns listed as well for many of the patterns. I'm docking her one star because she suggests beading as an embellishment and has a photo of it but nowhere does she tell how to do it. And on another lacey pattern which she admits can be difficult, she should have put in a chart to make it easier. But the pictures are great and the format and price are just right.

Summary: inspiring and good
Review: Very good book. 16 patterns, as the cover states, but the pattern stitches inspire you a lot to design your own scarves. All of them look nice, except the last one consists of many, many mohair squares that must be knit separately then attached later. That thought doesnt exactly excite me, so i think ill skip that one...
not a knitting instruction book, either--the knitting instructions in the beginning are meant more for review than teaching. get this book if you already know how to knit and dont depend on it to teach you.
