Summary: A Treasure for Every Quilter
Review: "Quilts from the Quiltmaker's Gift" is undoubtably the most beautiful quilting book I have seen yet. Based on the recently published children's story, "The Quiltmaker's Gift", which is also a treasure, this book includes patterns and directions for making 20 traditional quilts. What impressed me the most when I first picked up this book was the gorgeous look and feel of the pages. Upon closer inspection, I have found the directions for each quilt to be very clear and easy to follow. Directions and fabric requirements are given for a lap, double and queen size quilt for each pattern. I especially like the way the authors have shown each quilt in at least 2 different color schemes and sometimes a variation of the pattern. An added feature of this book is the interesting historical background information on each quilt block. Also helpful are the design challenges which give you tips and suggestions for fabric choices, block settings, borders, etc. I would highly recommend this book to any experienced or novice quilter.

Summary: Beautiful book--Has some errors, but corrections available
Review: "The Quiltmaker's Gift" & "Quilts from The Quiltmaker's Gift" are incredibly beautiful, the illustrations absolutely stunning, the colors rich, the pictures unique. Every time you look at them, you see something you didn't notice before. The story is touching; the quilt patterns are common, but uncommonly presented. You don't HAVE to use the fabric line, but it's wonderful. There are some errors...

Summary: Quilts From the Quiltmaker's Gift
Review: Even if you haven't read "The Quiltmaker's Gift", this is a terrific book of quilt patterns. It is a "must have" for every quilter.

At first glance, what sets this book apart from other quilting how-tos is how truly beautiful the book is to look at, the illustrations and overall appearance of the book is spectacular.

As for the quilts shown in the book, all of the blocks and quilts are of traditional design, and while all are available in other books, the examples in this book are exceptional. The color schemes and layout designs are sure to inspire even the most experienced and artistic of quilters -- and isn't that one of the reasons we buy quilt books?

The patterns are very well written, in that they are clear and quite detailed. There are excellent diagrams for each step of making the quilts, making the patterns easy to follow for both experienced and beginning quilters. Many of the different block patterns are also shown in alternate settings to show the variety of looks the same block can give you.

As quilting books go, this one is first rate.

Summary: Makes "THE QUILTMAKER" you!
Review: Have made a couple of quilts from book! Excellant directions, and good companion to the STORY: We all want to be "The Quiltmaker"

Summary: WONDERFUL!!!
Review: I am a beginning quilter and this book is written for any beginner or pro to use. It rates the quilts in terms of how difficult they are. Each pattern is shown in two or three different finished quilts, making it helpful to choose a color scheme. Each pattern also has directions for 3 different sizes, no math required to make the size you want! The pressing (yes ironing!) directions make it easy to get your seams butted! Completed projects take less time and come together beautifully! If you want to try and quilt, please look at this book! The Quiltmaker's Gift story book, which accompanies this book, is beautiful! Great investment of a few bucks!

Summary: My Favorite Quilt Book!
Review: I love this book! There are lots (20) of patterns, with great illustrations and directions.

I just completed "Children's Delight", the quilt featured on the cover. I made a crib quilt for expecting parents and gave the actual children's book to accompany the gift... they loved it!

This is usually the first book I browse through when seeking inspiration... even if I don't make one of the patterns, the colors and fabric arrangements are very inspiring.

Summary: Too many errors
Review: I read The Quiltmaker's Gift to my children and was so enchanted by it, I had to make the quilts myself. I love quilting and the stories that go with the craft. This book is easy to use and has fabulous, easy to follow, guidelines. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Not A Hit Or A Miss...Just A Miss
Review: I received this book as a gift otherwise I would never have purchased it. The designs are ones that are in most quilt books so there really isn't anything new there. It's sweet how the book involves a lot of friends and families BUT I wasn't interested in reading a sweet book. I wanted to learn something new about quilting. The fairtale the book is based on was terrible; I wasn't able to follow it and the story was incomplete. The only way I would have been able to know what that fairtale was about would be to have owned it or have read it else where. Don't waste your money or time reading this.
