Review: When we got our Beagle pup, my husband and I bought this spiral-bound book to help us track her progress in training, as well as to get some advice on how to proceed. (I haven't had a puppy in ten years, so I needed all the help I could get!)

This book offers basic raising and training information, and a diary so you can track her first year. It has a place to log vet visits also, and a selection of humorous cartoons and anecdotes such as the Dummies books are known for.

I wish that certain important training topics were covered more thoroughly, or at all, such as the pros and cons of crating your dog. This is invaluable information that shouldn't have been left out of a puppy training book. However, for the first-time puppy owner who needs a push in the right direction, this book is a help. One bonus is the list of "games" you can play with your new puppy to help you bond with her. All in all, I have gone on to recommend this book to other new puppy owners, particularly because of the diary format.
