Summary: Great Book for a Beginner
Review: I bought this book to figure out what to do with all my fat quarters. I just started quilting about 7 months ago and I have become a fabric addict. This book has some very nice quilts in it and I do think that I could make many of the quilts in the book. If you understand the basics of cutting fabric and sewing it together but you aren't quite ready for something that requires many different techniques, this would be a great guide for you.

Summary: I love this book!
Review: I got this book from the library to see if it was worth the money & I can tell you it is! Before seeing it in this book I saw a finished quilt that was very similar to the broken bricks pattern. The lady told me that she had already made 5 of these quilts which were quickly claimed by friends and family so she was finally making a 6th one for herself. She said some of them had been used on patios and looked beautiful so she wanted to do the same. I have bought enough fabric to do at least 3 of these for myself, mother and mother-in-law. I've started and it seems to be going together rather quickly.

I also love the triangles pattern, but I think I'm going to wait until next summer when I have more time for piecing all of those triangles together.

This book is one you'll want to have in your collection for sure. Even if you don't buy fat quarters you can buy 1/2 yard cuts and cut them in 1/2. Then you have enough to do 2 quilts or trade with someone else & it's cheaper to buy your fabric that way too.

Summary: Perfect book for fat quarter-aholics!
Review: I just got this book yesterday, and already love it and can't stop flipping through it. I am a beginning quilter, who has already developed a fabric obsession (especially for quarters). I'm hoping to use this book to make some quilts by Christmas. The patterns seem easy enough for a beginner, but like they would still be fun for someone more advanced.

Each pattern uses six fat quarters plus background and border material.

There are eight different patterns, but there are beautiful color photos of three or four different quilts made from each pattern, all lying flat, so you can see some possibilities from using different styles and colors of fabric (some bright, bold, and contemporary, others with soft pastels and florals, etc.) with the same pattern. Most patterns are for quilts with finished sizes of 50-something" x 50-something", but there are some both smaller and bigger.

There is also a ninth pattern for a fat quarter tote bag.

The instructions seem very clear from reading over them, though I have not started to make a quilt with the book yet.

This is NOT a book for brand new beginners; some basic knowledge and experience is assumed. Though, there are some tips and instructions in the back on finishing the quilt.

Summary: Wonderful guide!
Review: I just purchased this book but am already thrilled with what I've read! Fat quarters are so addictive but I didn't know what to do with them - this book is a great guide for using them. I like the fact that each quilt is shown in more than one collection of colors. This is a great book and I hope that there will be many sequels to it!

Summary: Good cutting and piecing directions.
Review: I really like the concept of this book -- fat quarters are very common and fun to collect. This book has eight different patterns (Houndstooth, Roman Stripes, Broken Bricks, Road to Ireland, Skagit Fields, Triangles and Confetti, Woven Ribbons, a Mystery Sampler and a Fat Quarter Bag as well). Most of the quilts are lap sized (approximately 53" by 58") and use 6 different but coordinating fat quarters, along with chosen fabrics for borders and backgrounds. The directions are great -- concise and easy to follow rotary cutting and strip piecing. Full page, color pictures show most of the quilt patterns in 3-4 different colorways for ideas and inspiration. More patterns, however, would have been nice, along with an applique quilt for variety. I wouldn't be surprised if we soon see a sequel of sorts -- "More Fat Quarter Quilts" perhaps.

Summary: This has great patterns for fat quarter collectors.
Review: I really liked the clear directions and found this a wonderful addition to my quilt books. I collect fat quarters and the author uses them in new quilt patterns that fit so well with my fabrics.
I would recommend this book for any one who collects fat quarters.

Summary: The Best
Review: It is a very good book especially for someone like me, who enjoy patchworking different or lots of fabrics in a quilt.

Instructions very clear and easy to follow. Highly recommended even to new begineers.

Summary: What a great book!
Review: M'Liss Rae has a way with writing patterns so that they are easy to follow. Each quilt uses 6 fat quarters and a background fabric. The amount of background fabric varies for each quilt. It is sometimes necessary to add extra fabric for borders. For those of use who collect fat quarters (who can resist a bite size piece of fabric) this is a great resource. Most quilts are lap size. Color pictures show each pattern done in varied fabrics, to show how changing the fabric changes the outcome of the quilt. A terrific book for the quilter's library. A great reference tool, suitable for beginners to expert.
