Summary: Interesting book for beginners
Review: I rather enjoyed the book and the writing style of the author. I'm an amateur clockmaker but intend to pursue the subject through multiple means of training - many books, DVD courses and of course a lot of practical experience.

Would strongly recommend that anyone considering this field also join a professional organization right off the bat. The American Watchmakers Clockmakers Institute (AWI) is great. NAWCC is also one that comes highly recommended.
