Summary: knitting nana now luvs2crochet!!! a MUST OWN!!!!!!!!
Review: After looking at these patterns (as well as how simple to make!!) it's helped me , a VERY devoted knitter,,,pick up a crochet hook,,,,( I knit, but now,,,I do BOTH and its so much fun,,,,)

Two years ago I would not have placed a crochet hook in my hands as I would not have known what to do with it,,,,now I love it!

There are many patterns in the knitting,, ( is it me or does it seem like there is a new book coming out on an average of twice a week??) , but not so many books in crochet.

This one is a MUST OWN if you have small children to stitch for!
The patterns are easy , 1-2-3 , and a whole lot less time consuming than knitting takes (which is great at the rate kids grow and if you have more than one little one to crochet or knit for!)

This book has really made me take a real look at the need for me to want to learn both of these lovely forms of needlework,,
I have now completed one cardigan sweater in LESS time than it ever took me to knit ( and, I was confident enough to do minor alterations on the first item I ever crocheted) I made the cutest little tam I have ever made to match the sweater, even the women in my knitting circle thought it to be tooooooo cute!
( am going to add a knitted or crocheted flower to the side attached by a matching button,,,) This entire thing was the very FIRST project I ever crocheted ( and I am really proud of it too!)

The author uses NICE yarns( Plymouth Wildflower DK ) I have used that many times for knit baby socks and L*O*V*E* the softness of it and how versatile/washable this is for kids,
best thing is,,,it will NOT break the piggy bank,,I promise you ,,, your gift reciepients will appreciate the washability factor,,,)

I will now attempt to make some of the patterns in the yarn called Fixation its about 99% cotton( great for kids!) and has a stretch factor built right in it( a percentage of spandex maybe?)
Either way, this crochets up at the same guage and promises to be great for the little ones,,,cotton and stretchy give,,,, cotton yarn does not normally "spring" back like a wool so this is a great choice!

I believe any of these patterns could be made up quite lovely in say,,,,a heathery soft wool (that is dk weight), or if you want a lovely Debbie Bliss dk weight yarn,,,if you wanted something a bit more on the traditional side,,( children look so cute in the brighter colors dont they??)

,
I must say,,,,I am a convert now,,,and will be happily crocheting things for my 3 grandbabies now!( at a rate that will give them many more outfits per season!)

One criticism of this book is that 2 patterns are identical , made up in different colorways ( some flowers are added to it) In honesty it did include a little purse to match so that can be overlooked.

One serious criticism is that there is not one single vest pattern for a boy ( !!) and I now know its very easy to do up,, as the book Candy Tots has quite a few in them,,,

On the positive side, it gave me the confidence level right from the get-go to add on a collar , a hood etc.
Never did that when I first started to knit.

If you want to begin to crochet, (and I mean crochet 101 like I needed!) AND produce really cute kids clothing patterns that have directions and are EASY to follow,, this is your book>

Schematics are included that help you achieve a perfect fit.

. Cany Tots is a book to look at ,in fact using the both of them will give you many design ideas to bounce back and forth (however, and this is a BIG however,,, in Candy Tots,, she uses some very expensive yarn for children and lots is NOT washable!),,, get that one from the library,,,and use the ideas to bounce back and forth, and save your money for more yarn,, :)

This book is wonderful,,,hope that there will be more forthcoming that are for larger sized children as my 3 grandchildren outgrow size 4. I enjoy the choice as to which form of needleart I will use for any project I may be contemplating,,,keep designing Ms. Queen!

I have already added different touches such as using FIZZ to single crochet around my finished sweater as well as adding it as a crochet rose on the sweater and matching tam. Cany Tots is the NEXT book to get,in fact using the both of them will give you many design ideas to bounce back and forth.

Summary: LOVE IT!
Review: Okay, I maybe overdoing it a little as I have not much background on crocheting. But I am just so excited on finishing up this particular design for my twins. This book is excellent and contains many creative and fun designs. Although I wish it has more booties design as well. Highly recommended!

Summary: Easy to understand
Review: This book is excellent for those who look at crochet patterns and become overwhelmed. The garments are simple and the instructions are well written and easy to understand. I have even found myself working out how to mix and match the designs, for example putting in longer sleeves on a sweater in the cardigan, plus add the hood from the pullover. Something I never thought I'd do! The fact that the designs are all made with the same size range for every garment makes this possible. Another great feature is that it has a diagram for every pattern showing all the pieces and what they should measure before sewing the garment together, which is very helpful to me as my tension changes all the time, so I just wing it until I have the right measurements. An excellent book
