Rating: Summary: great *intermediate* book with tons of variety Review: While the crochet patterns in this book aren't necessarily *easy* (most are intermediate with a few advanced) the projects are extremely creative and modern. The afghan patterns are the best (and there are lots of them), one with blocks that display multiple kinds of stitches in each block, one with star blocks, one mod looking one with diamond blocks, one with pine tree blocks, and more. All have good contemporary graphics. Lots of patterns for several great hats, many, many shawls and sweaters, and various bags. Variety is certainly a feature of this book, and something for every age group. Like I said though, this is not the place for a beginner to start, except for a couple of the projects, and it certainly doesn't provide any lessons on *how* to crochet, just brief reminders really for those who already know. If you do know how to crochet, the book provides great charts and diagrams for how the stitches should look and how to size the clothing, helpful for visualizing what it is exactly you are doing. Great book to look at for creative projects, color scheme ideas (the color combinations they use are very contemporary), and not easy but not too complicated projects.
