Rating: Summary: I love this book!!! Review: I had originally purchased this book in a kit I bought from Dharma Trading. I somehow misplaced the book, and just recently purchased another copy. I have several books on dyeing/painting on fabric and go to this one time and time again. I'm teaching a class in July on dyeing fabric and everyone is going to have to purchase a copy of this book. It is a great book to learn how to dye fabric. It is well written and easy to follow. Need to purchase if you are interested in learning the art of dyeing fabric.
Rating: Summary: The only one you need! Review: I have MANY books on hand-dyeing fabrics for quilters, but this is the one I take out when it's time to dye. The instructions are simple and clear. The equipment is minimal and easy to use (zip-lock bags, not jars or buckets), and the worksheets are invaluable. The other books are pretty to look at and get ideas from, but this book will actually get you dyeing. Thanks, Adrienne...I should send you pictures of the many quilts I've made with my own hand-dyed fabrics thanks to you.

Rating: Summary: Great Book for Beginning Dyers!! Review: I have many, many books on dyeing, but I find myself returning to this one again and again. The simple techniques are wonderful (you do all dyeing in 1 gallon plastic bags - easy cleanup!), and her projects help you create tons of wonderful fabric - they've certainly added sparkle to my quilts. And you can get started with a fairly small initial investment. Dharma trading company even offers a kit designed for this book.
Rating: Summary: They absolute best for beginning dyers. Review: If they'd let me, I would give it 6 stars! I am a quilter in love with hand-dyed and batik fabrics. I also love to try things for myself. I bought this book (and a couple of others) just to look into the possibilities, but Adriene Buffington made it all sound so simple that I decided I had to try it. So, I bought some supplies, found a company (Dharma Trading Company) that sold the dyes, cleaned out the garage, and conned my Mom into helping. We both ended up with brightly colored tie-dyed fingers (Wear the gloves!), and a fabulous new hobby. The book got us started, gave us confidence, and even gave us ideas for new directions. Mom and I are having a blast--if we could only convince ourselves to cut the fabric up and make a quilt! I bought other books also, both before and after this one, but this is the one I keep going back to. The information is so clearly laid out and easy to use, and the charts are an absolute must if you ever want to try to recreate something. Be warned though, it is VERY! hard to exactly match a color. But they are all so beautiful, who cares? Color photos provide inspiration to go along with the wonderful instructions. The right place to start!
Rating: Summary: Hand-Dyed Fabric Review Review: This book was descriptive enough as far as actually dyeing the fabrics, but I felt that it lacked a basic tool - which is a color wheel. Just by adding a section pertaining to mixing and creating new colors, it might have made for better reading.
