Rating: Summary: Very informative with detailed photography of the GSMD. Review: As a prospective dog owner, looking for the perfect breed is difficult, but Mr. Barton's explanation of the GSMD and his high-quality photography easily convinced me that the GSMD was the right choice. If you have never heard of the GSMD, this is also a great way to learn of how the breed was saved from near extinction. What a loss that would have been! Easily readable and enjoyable, this book made my decision easy. Job well done.
Rating: Summary: I wish I would have bought the book before I bought my puppy Review: Great book with lots of personal input by Mr. Barton. I was not sure what to expect when I got my pup other than what I saw on the internet and what the breeder told me. It was all pretty on target, but in this book, Mr. Barton introduces more subtle and intersting accounts of the characteristics of the breed and now I can see all this dveloping in my own Swissy. ...
Rating: Summary: Must have for swissy owner! Review: I got this book when trying to find info on the breed. Did it help! It answers everything you might want to know. Great pictures and tons of info, good job Jim! Thanks to this book I now own and love my swissy

Rating: Summary: I wish I would have bought the book before I bought my puppy Review: I just purchased my third copy of this book. Once I loan my copy out to friends or family, it disappears! I'm not telling anyone else I have a new copy! So obviously it is a VERY interesting and informative book. I agree with one of the previous reviewers however. When will you be writing another book?!? Thanks for the information you provide without boring us with unnecessary details.

Rating: Summary: Excellent reference if you are thinking of purchasing a GSMD Review: I really enjoy this book, I wish it was longer, my 2 yr old daughter loved all the colorful pictures of the puppies and dogs. Very informative, and helpful.
Rating: Summary: Everything you need to know! Review: The pictures are gorgeous - makes a great coffee table book. However, the info is pretty generic and a bit fluffy considering Barton's years of experience as a Swissy breeder. Looks like the editor was given too much free range on this one, and cut out everything that might have been interesting or useful.
Rating: Summary: Very well written and truly useful Review: We purchased this book in anticipation of our Swissy's arrival in the next few months (Spring '99). The book includes all the information I spent the last few months researching! Training, selection, care, health, and even pulling are all covered with plenty of detail. I would reccomend this book to anyone looking to learn more about these dogs. Even better, the Sire of our puppy was one of the dogs shown in the book! If you need more information, the Discovery Channel's Animal Planet has a show called "Breed: All About It" that featured Swissy's in an episode (check TV listings).
