Rating: Summary: Minnow Knits: Unommon Clothes to knit for kids Review: Being a working mother of 2 (13 & 2) it isn't always easy to find a book that covers such a broad age range. I have yet to be diappointed wiht Jill Eaton's offerings. Allowing for the fact that not all of us are at a expert level and yet we want to experiment with color changes and texture, she manages to entice and provide clear instructions, ineresting projects but most of all patterns that are interesting. Also I found that some of the simpler patterns were great places to start someone who wants to learn to knit but can't cope with the idea of a scarf! Try it, you'll be suprised by the sudden itch to stitch!

Rating: Summary: Make the most adorable kids clothes you've ever seen. Review: Busy knitters have Jill Eaton to blame if they have trouble deciding which adorable outfit to knit for a favorite child. The colors are fantastic! The styles are so kid-friendly that they quickly become favorites, and the patterns are interesting without being too difficult for the moderately-accomplished knitter. I recommend this book to any knitter who knows a baby or toddler. There's guaranteed to be several outfits you just HAVE to make! My only quibble is that several otherwise great patterns use yarns that aren't kid-proof. You can substitute, but the results aren't the same. Other than that, this is a staple on my pattern shelf.
Rating: Summary: Minnowknits: Uncommon Clothes to Knit for Kids Review: I love color, I'm an artist Mom, and truly appreciate Jil Eaton's direct approach to designing for children. These patterns are easy to knit and clearly presented, making this book a joy to own as well as use. This book and all Minnowknits patterns are great sources of inspiration and a feast for the eye,a must for any knitters pattern collection.
Rating: Summary: Minnowknits: Uncommon Clothes to Knit for Kids Review: The patterns in this book are incredibly well designed, but you have to be an expert knitter to fill in some of the gaps in the instructions. Ms. Eaton would be well served to work with an editor that is also a knitter. "Ski, Baby" is one of the cutest outfits and worst written patterns I have ever encountered! I hope in the future, the instructions will be more complete!SINCE WRITING THIS REVIEW, I HAVE CONTACTED THE AUTHOR AND THE PROBLEMS WITH "SKI, BABY" WILL BE CORRECTED IN THE NEXT EDITION OF THE BOOK. FOR THE TIME BEING, UNLESS YOU ARE AN EXPERT KNITTER, I WOULD STICK TO DEBBIE BLISS PATTERNS FOR BABIES AND KIDS.
Rating: Summary: Too cute. Review: The patterns in this book are too cute. I have made one, the Aran Ruffles Sweater. It is now being worn by my second daughter. The photo's and directions are great. I am in the middle of the Coco Chenille Sweater and pant outfit. Am very interested in making many more of the patterns, just trying to pick one is so hard they are all so cute, Polka Dots maybe(a very colorful colorblock kind of style with white polka dots and nice bright colors),for my 7 year old.
Rating: Summary: Love It Review: These patterns are adorable. They are just what kids like to wear. The designs are unique, colorful and a joy to look at. I am knitting my friend's new baby a dress. I can't wait to see her wearing it. These are the type of patterns knitters like me love - straightforward, clearly written and the finished product, well, it's way cool. I strongly suggest Jil Eaton's books to any knitter who is interested in creating cool, hip and groovy kids knitwear. happy knitting. Buy this book and MinnowKnits, Too! You'll be pleased and so will the kids.
Rating: Summary: Get it at the library Review: Yes, bright colors and poofy pants, great. But only a couple of the designs were really cute enough to do. The rest were sorta plain looking just made over the top by color choices and embellishments. The cover outfit is really the climax of the book. Save the $ and check this one out at the library and spend your $ on the second book, Minnow Knits Too!
