Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Most excellent foundation
Review: Although Ms. Kelley is not a native american she does an excellent job of presenting the fundamentals of native american ribbonwork. For anyone interested in learning the essential fundamentals involved in developing Straight Dance ribbonwork or developing designs for native dance shawls for women this book is an invaluble reference resource. Ms.Kelley is a quilter and does not represent herself as otherwise but, does acknowledge the innovative contributions the Native approach to working with ribbons has made to the world of contemporary quilting.

The book covers the basic different styles of ribbonwork (eg. Osage, Plains, Woodland etc.) as well color selection theory/philosphy, and solid information on construction techniques. Valuble information on ribbon selection is provided as well as means of devising/fabricating ribbons from yard goods.

As noted at the outset of this review, this is an invaluble reference resource and belongs in any quilter or ribbonworker's library.
