Summary: Not bad
Review: I have made a Finished Object (FO) form this book, and find it useful and well-written. Of course some of the yarn used has been discontinued, but oh well. As for the person who said the pattern for the pink sweater onthe front isn't in the book, have you checked out page 48 for project 4: the "Ladies' Turtleneck Raglan " or not?

I'm not a new beginner, but I've not been knitting for years either. I found the book to be easy to follow and I like the patterns. My mom does too.

It's probably a worthwhile investment as far as knitting books go.

Summary: disappointing!
Review: I love working with chunky yarns. Instant gratification. I was so excited when this book came out. Now that I have it I am very disappointed. The patterns are blah! She doesn't give you the pattern for the pink sweater on the front, which is really cute. I found two patterns in the whole book, that I would make. The rest just aren't inspiring. She also showcases a very limited selection of the bulky yarns available. All in all a big disappointment.

Summary: Chunky and simple
Review: It's usually a good idea to never judge a book by its cover, but in this case the cover gives you a pretty good hint of what's inside. Mostly plain chunky designs, with a little modern flair, the sweaters are probably better suited for the younger (and slimmer) crowd. There is some variety in the patterns - a bag, a hat, a cute child's poncho, and a sequined shawl. The sweaters also have some variety among them, besides the basic stockinette pullover you also get some cabling, some fair isle, argyle, and even a really cute beaded turtleneck. There isn't anything mind-blowing here for an experienced knitter who has done all those techniques before, but a beginner will find here decent explanations and lots of pictures of each technique, plus a fun project in which to apply it. Definitely worth a look.
