Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: Although this collection of photographs is very comprehensive, there is very little practical use for it. It does not opperate using Windows functions. It is not user-friendly. The manual doesn't provide any helpful insight. There is no text and the database is not searchable. Furthermore, its organization seems haphazard, i.e. Acer spp. images are disk #4? It appears as though a first year computer science student organized and wrote the program and I would have given him a D.

Save yourself the money and buy his books, they are an excellent investment.

Summary: Images only no text and not searchable by plant attributes
Review: As a home owner (not a professional horticulturalist) I was disappointed that this product contains images only, no text and not searchable on attributes such as height, sun loving or shade etc. I have Dirr's book which is very good but not useful in finding plant options for different situations

Summary: Tantalizing Fruit - Apple users beware!
Review: I have a feeling this is just what I need to print out to show to clients when describing a tree I want them to plant. BUT, having purchased the CD and nifty notebook and outline that accompanies it, the manual informs me that the CD is for PCs only. Publishers at PlantAmerica tell me that program will not work in Apple computers, (due to "lack of demand... 5 out of every 1,000 users" - last I heard, Apple users were at least 15% of market - - the stock is doing well - what's wrong with this picture?)

So - no pictures of Malus on the Apple.

Review: If you want to know "What will that tree or shrub look like?" this software will show you. What a marvelously organized, comprehensive collection of just stunning color photos.

As a novice plant person I was very quickly able to discover and view photos of plants of my choosing and print the photos. The photos show buds, flowers, leaves, bark, etc. and for different seasons of the year.

The 7,600 woody plant images on the four CD's are beautiful. I have enjoyed the ease of use and the comprehensive collection of plants available. If you have an interest in woody plants, this Photo-Library is a must.
