Summary: Sorry to see that this book apparently is not in print...
Review: ...because when a flower or plant absolutely stymies me, this is my first and best reference. The organization of photos (and the size and quality of the photos, themselves: six to a page in the paperback edition; these are not huge, but big enough to document the telling detail) together with brief, but sufficient alphabetical descriptions following the "color" dictionary invariably deliver enough information for me to seek out additional confirmation, if needed.

Invariably? Yes, indeed. I am no plantswoman, but have gardened in two wildly disparate regions and have visited many different gardens in the northern hemisphere. I read fairly widely, both older books and newer publications, but this is the book without which I would not be able to garden or to appreciate gardens.
