Review: Ellen McCarn does a great job of taking you through all the basics, she is so thorough you feel as though she is holding your hand all the way until you have it mastered. This book is a great reference for all smockers, it is full of pictures, has clear and concise directions and is an excellent choice of books if you are wanting to learn to smock. Also, gives tons of info on troubleshooting for the experienced smocker. About a year ago I decided I wanted to take up smocking, but I wanted to see if it was going to be extrememly difficult so I decided to purchase this book, heard from others it was the best resource for teaching yourself at your own pace. Now I am smocking and love it thanks to this book. Today, I am buying my friend a copy as a gift.
