Summary: Truly appalling
Review: Dangerous recipes - well, one recipe with a multitude of minor variations, dangerous instructions. Total lack of proof-reading. The only good use for this book is as an emergency substitute for toilet paper.

Summary: the best book i ever bought
Review: Hello my name is angela neslon and i live in washington state . I bought this book so i could make some soap for my family for x-mas and b-days. When i bought the book i was very delighted on how easy and simple it was. Most books that deal with soap making are very wordy and complicated but the author explains very well in the book on every angle of soap making. for me with 6 children and very little time to do anything i have enjoyed the book and would recomend this book to any one who is interested in the soap making industry or just for fun , iI LOVE IT .If you are looking for a simple but very explainitory book this is the one for you it awsome .

Summary: I wanted to learn and Linda knows how to teach!
Review: I admit I was disappointed when Linda Inlow's book first arrived. During the last 3 months I have read 4 information packed soap books that have got me reading avidly about soap making, but didn't seem to give me the confidence to start making it myself. So how would Linda's slim, notebook type book (with no pictures!) do it? 24hours later, I'd made my first batch of soap. Each soap writer has their own style of making and writing about soap. You almost get too much information as a beginner and its becomes confusing. Linda is different in that she really is writing for the novice. She also knows how to teach soap making. Being able to teach a craft is a very different skill from just being able to write about it. This book is a user-friendly, and interesting tutorial. Each chapter gave me just the right amount of information and in the right order. Unlike other books, it didn't side-track me into other topics which left me confused. Why didn't anyone think of spiral bound, laminated covers before? Great. I love her sections on natural coloring and special scent blends. Her information for starting a business is just enough to send you in the right direction. The blank note pages at the back are useful too. I'm already hoping she'll write "Soap Making for Fun and Profit II." I'll be the first to buy it.

Summary: Dangerous Recipes
Review: I am completely outraged that a book like this can enter the marketplace. SEVERAL of her recipes are lye heavy and the soap made WILL burn the skin. She instructs the reader to use massive quantities of certain essential oils, such a cassia that are known to be caustic on the skin. The author obviously has not ever used the soap she's instructing to make. If she had, she would be red, raw and probably blistered. What a shame, so many will be injured by using a soap book.

Summary: New soap maker
Review: I am new to making soap. I found the book easy to understand and follow. I have made three different soaps and am excited to make more.

Summary: Strange book
Review: I bought this book to learn. Well, what I learned was this book stinks. There are many empty pages, it seems like most of her soaps are the same base soap and just switch the additives (fragances, etc) and the section about how to turn soapmaking into a busness was a farce. I didn't want to hear about what she went through, I was hoping for information on who to talk to, where to go for licensing, or anything remotely related. None of that was here. A list of suppliers or something would have helped also.

Summary: Soap making made simple
Review: I was fortunate to attend a booksigning and demonstration by the author the other night. I loved her soap samples and enjoyed the step by step process of making soap. What an economical way to save money and fun, too. My first batches were unimaginative, but still smell good and will last a long time.

Summary: Fun project
Review: I was very disappointed when I received this book. I have few soap making books that cost less or about the same that give better value, information and picture. If you are thinking of making profit from soap, this book doesn't help either.

Summary: Truly appalling
Review: Making soap for fun & profit was my first book on soap making. It was an excellent first book, simple and very basic. No worrying about 6 different oils and lots of fancy, specialized equipment. The recipes use down to earth, look in the kitchen cupboard, ingredients. Using her book as a starting point, I have launched my own small soap business, now having my soaps in 4 shops, as well as, selling at craft shows and bazaars. Her recipes are basic and economical to make, and nice to use.

Summary: Great Little Book!
Review: This was the first book I received of the many on soap making (and I could have easily stopped with this one!). It is fun reading and very clear and concise. Linda includes a list of supplies (most of which are readily available in your home) and simple step-by-step instructions. And of course my favorite part, the pages and pages of recipes. From the simplest to the more advanced... and each has side notes about why you may want to try the recipe.

Great book!
