Summary: whimsical history
Review: This is the first (to my kowledge) attempt to write a serious history of lace and lacemaking. It is an enjoyable read with many lovely illustrations. Do be warned, however, that there is some rather whimsical history between these pages studded amongst the accurate bits. Still, there is much good information in this book, and a wealth of wonderful illustrations.
