Rating: Summary: This is a great reference book!! Review: I really like that it is written simply and is easy to understand. It breaks up the things to be done in the garden and yard into seasons so that you can easily tell what you can do during a particular time of the year! It's a great book!
Rating: Summary: Attractive format, clear directions Review: Organized by season, this-large format compilation of Horticulture magazine's bimonthly illustrated how-to column offers 86 projects, each complete in a two-page layout and each step illustrated by Elayne Sears' pen and ink drawings.
Projects range from the common to the unusual: building a raised bed, planting a raspberry patch, raising ferns from spores, storing tropical water lilies. Topics cover landscaping from seeding a lawn to pruning, planting and propagating shrubs and trees. Gardening topics cover everything from composting to raising pole beans, drying herbs, growing roses from cuttings, saving seeds.
There's a little something for everyone here, novice or expert. Directions are clear and precise and never assume prior knowledge while the illustrations are attractive and useful.
