Review: WoodShop News, December Library section: SIMPLY BOARD FEET by Douglas E. Maxwell, is a resource for calculating board feet for material from 1" to 25-1/2" wide by 1' to 20' long, and for thicknesses of 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 8/4, 10/4, 12/4, and 16/4. Maxwell is a purchasing manager for a large custom cabinet manufacturer in southwest Florida and was looking for a method to quickly calculate board feet, as opposed to using a lumber stick. He's compiled charts to provide board feet calculations based on the lumber's length, width and thickness. The results are inteded to help a craftsman figure material for a cut list and inventory material for billing purposes. The 59-page softcover sells for $9.95. Contact: www.simplyboardfeet.com
