Summary: How? When? ¿and even Where?
Review: This book comes off the shelf to be consulted often. Answers to 10,000 gardners' questions comprise sixteen sections that include sound advice on planning and landscaping; shrubs, trees, and vines; roses, perennials and bulbs; annuals and biennials; lawns, weeds and plant troubles; plus sections on vegetable gardens, houseplants, orchards, and even regional problems. And this is but a partial list! How and when--even where--to amend soil, plant, divide, mulch, pinch, deadhead, disbud, fertilize and so on fill more than 1500 pages with no superfluous fluff.

The book is mostly in the form of Q&A, but informative expositions precede each section. Questions are answered succinctly and in a pertinent fashion, and the narrations give sound horticultural advice. Illustrations are used to clarify or distinguish ambiguities or comparisons.he book addresses the concerns of both novice and experienced gardeners. This book addresses the concerns of both novice and experienced gardeners.

Buy this book new or used in any edition. It's uniquely helpful, since so much of the information it contains is not as accessible, easily obtained or detailed as that contained in other sources.

Summary: 13,000 Questions with 13,000 Answers.
Review: This review is based on the two books I own. 10,000 Garden Questions, Answered By 20 Experts, Volume 1, Third Edition 1974. 10,000 Garden Questions, Answered By 20 Experts, Volume 2, Third Edition 1974. These books I own may be old but the 10,000 questions are real and the answers they provide are still useful and very much needed. Actually the volume contains 13,000 questions all answered by twenty horticultural authorities. Sections include: Soils and Fertilizers, Planning and Landscaping,Ornamental Plants and Their Culture, Trees, Shrubs, and Vines, Bulbs, Tubers and Corms, Roses, Perennials, Annuals and Biennials, Lawns and Turf Areas,The Home Vegetable garden, Home-Grown Fruits, House Plants, Plant troubles and Their Control, Weeds and Regional Garden Problems. I've referred to these books many times when I was thinking of growing Pumpkin or Corn. Even Radishes and Lettuce. How about those nice Ladybugs!
