Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Modeling WWii figures can be easy
Review: Before I read this I had problems with the painting of figures, mainly the faces. Now I refer to this book every time I start a new diorama. The pictures are excellently detailed and make realistic painting of camoflauge easy and fun. Overall I'd say this book is an excellent tool for someone wanting to realistically dipict figures from WWii. I gave it four stars because it was not long enough, although it did have a vast amount of information, I just wanted more!

Review: I definately concur with mgerken2120.

This book is not a "how to" book... To ask yourself the question "how to?" the next question following is usually "with what?". Well, thats what this book is, the "with what" portion of the fascade, not the "how to" portion.

It says on the front cover "The complete "how to""... Sadly, this is entirely untrue.

I have NOT found anything in this book which mentions anything about technique. How to apply a good wash, How to apply a good dry brush, etc etc. This is not a technique book, but mearly a picture gallery of good work that you can only dream of being able to do. To top it off, the only thing explained is what paints were used where, some historical background.... but wait... not a word on how to better your technique.

If your looking to improve your modelling skills, I assure you this is NOT the book that can help you in that category whatsoever.

If your looking to see some good works, then you might want to browse through this one at your local hobby store.

Save your money for something else.

Summary: Sniffing a tube of Tester's glue would be more productive.
Review: This book is not a How-to. The reader gets 5% instruction on how to paint figures, 65% historical background on the figure being featured, and 30% of product plugs. I knew I got the wrong book when I read " The camouflage pattern depicted is very difficult." That was it, no how-to, no method, no nothing. Stick to Shepherd Paine and Verlinden.
