Rating: Summary: It's All About the Quilting Review: Wow!This is my birth-grandmother, only discovered in 2000 (after my biomom and I found each other, of course). When we started corresponding, she sent me a copy of this book, along with all the others she's written. I have to say - I'm not a quilter. But I'm teetering on the edge of being one. It's sheer chicken-baby-ness that's keeping me from it - I don't want to be terrible, and be a disappointment. After knowing her for only the last 2 of 30 years, one gets weird about things like this. Anyway, that said... while I don't do it yet, I've been reading about it enough to recognize the real deal - or the real-enough deal to get started - when I see it. This book was definitely the best of the ones she's authored. Millie's books are absolutely about the quilting - her writing can get overblown at times, but so can she ;o) - but her appreciation for 1930s fabrics and vintage patterns shines through. She really REALLY knows her stuff, and you can't beat her grasp of it. She's fantastic. I'm obviously biased, but I'm deeply impressed by her talent and knowledge in this area. Give her a try - you'll make a lost-and-found granddaughter VERY happy, and you'll increase your own knowledge of the subject as well. Spend some time with this truly feminist artform, and let Millie be your guide. She loves that. ;o)
