Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: A long-awaited polymer clay book is finally here, and it was worth the wait! The author has done a great job of pulling together a huge variety of techniques and including a solid grounding in the basic knowledge that someone would need to get started with this fascinating medium. She's written about the things that clayers want to learn, and I think that following the step by step pictures will be easy, even for an inexperienced clayer. The projects range from jewelry techniqes and projects to making tiny books to home decor items like lamps. The gallery section is inspiring and incredibly varied in the items that it presents. Major eye candy! I would recommend this book to any polymer clay fan!Elizabeth
Rating: Summary: A great book for beginners too Review: I really enjoyed everything about this book
Rating: Summary: One of the Very Best! Review: I was totally thrilled with this polymer clay book. It is remarkably well written with all of the how-to details extremely clear and precise. The photographs are stunning and the projects exciting. I like the fact that there are projects for beginners as well as for the advanced clayer. The author has included not only her own projects, but those of some other fine clay artists which gives the book a wonderful variety. This is an absolute must for the clayer who is looking for creative ways to use the clay.
Rating: Summary: One of the Very Best! Review: I was very disappointed with this book. It is true that it includes many exciting techniques, but the instructions are very poorly written (including editing mistakes and typographical errors) and frequently less than helpful. Some of the editing choices that were made were questionable. For example, on one page there is an image of an (admittedly lovely) brooch and another "detail" photograph of the same brooch--only the "detail" picture is only slightly larger than the original and therefore doesn't add any extra information. The artwork selected is also disappointing. I found the majority of the pieces to be somewhat unsophisticated. While there are several notable exceptions, on the whole this book failed to inspire. In short, there are many excellent books on polymer clay already, and more are being printed every day. Pass this one over.

Rating: Summary: Sophisticated Design Review: The Author, Dotty McMillan, shows cutting-edge techniques in polymer clay with sophistication and elegance. Her use of polymer clay demonstrates the versatality of the medium, and her designs (and those in the Gallery) show that polymer clay is a serious artist's medium. This is a book that is geared to all levels - the basics are covered for the beginner, with tips to improve the work of the more experienced. The many projects are so well written that beginners could execute them successfully, and innovative enough to delight more experienced clay artists. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in new techniques with a sense of style and a professional touch.
Rating: Summary: Creative techniques beyond Polymer Clay 101 Review: This is a wonderful helpful book for anyone wanting to take a step forward in using this versatile medium. It is heavy on artistic applications, and the projects are richly elegant. She has shared some hints for working with some of the more intriguing methods of handling the clay. The best part for me was the compared methods of doing various techniques, i.e. monkume gane. While it gives a good description of what polymer clay is and lists the items one may use to work with it, it probably is not a good choice for a first PC book, as a lot of the basics are not detailed nor illustrated. However, for those who want to polish their techniques or need a kickstart for a new ideas, it is a real winner.
Rating: Summary: Definitely a 5 STAR book! Review: To begin it's a beautifully done hardcover book! It's jammed packed with techniques/information and DO-ABLE projects for polymer clay aquainted beginners to those that have worked with polymer clay for years. The range in projects is VERY exciting! I loved every one, and I have no doubts that everyone will find that they too will enjoy and be tempted to try almost every, if not all, of the projects. It also includes a wonderful *Gallery* of some of the most beautiful polymer clay artwork by many polyclay artist. Very well written, easy to follow and beautifully photographed! In my humble opinion, this is a *gotta have* book for any & all interested in creating with polymer clay.
