Summary: Interesting projects
Review: As others have said, this book has great photos and instructions. My favorite part is the projects, though. There are all sorts of projects--different sizes, traditional and non-traditional designs, simple and more complicated, panels, boxes, lampshades, etc. There are panels that include nuggets and agate slices, and there's a whimsical fish in a bowl. Even if you aren't interested in doing a particular project, it may give you ideas for things you'd like to try. This book is a smorgasbord of things to do and I've tried some things I wouldn't have thought of doing because I saw them in this book.

Summary: Almost a perfect work!
Review: I am just beginning in stained glass and found the large color photos documenting each step of the process to be extremely helpful. This book is almost as good as having an instructor in the room with you. One additional item - when you go to buy your tools, ask about the Morton System for cutting glass - it's an excellent partner for applying what you learn in this work.

Summary: I felt the fear and cut the glass anyway!
Review: I appreciated the encouragement in this book with a sensible view on safety. Very comprehensive and demystified instructions - lovely simple clear photographs. I read the book before doing a short but excellent course in copper foiling, and it also helped me to get the most out of the course, as I knew so many of the terms and techniques beforehand. A lovely book altogether, which helped this absolute beginner to enter the magic world of stained glass here in Ireland, accompanied by some great U.S. "can do"!

Summary: A great book for beginners
Review: I just finished my first foiled glass project based on what I learned from this book. Each chapter goes through a different stage of a simple foiled or leaded glass project step by step, starting at tool and materials selection. The only thing that would make this book more perfect would be a good list of resources for supplies and training.

Summary: A delightful resource
Review: I took stained glass classes a few years ago and bought much of the necessary equipment at the time. Unfortunately I got away from the hobby and when I wanted to return to it again, cast about for a resonably priced book that would help with refresher information and provide interesting projects for the novice. Though some seem a little more advanced than my present level, there were several that were "doable." More satisfying still was the fact that these simler patterns were very effective designs, providing the maximum impression for the least amount of actual skill/effort. They put the careful beginner in the best possible light!

Summary: Excellent Beginner's Book
Review: One year ago I saw this book in the store. I had no experience with stained glass, so I bought the book. Read it from cover to cover. Now I do commisioned work as well as sell in my town and other communities in my area. Definite 5 stars.

Summary: A PLEASANT INTRODUCTION
Review: This book is a perfect starting point for anyone interested in stained glass as a hobby or profession. It doesn't confuse the beginner with anything too advanced, or with anything that requires unique tools or supplies. The projects range from being very simple to being quite challenging, but none are out of reach for the beginning enthusiast. The photographs are equally as impressive, giving a true representation of the complexity and potential for each project. I reference this book frequently and am always pleased that I find something worthwhile in it.

Summary: A great book for beginners and teachers
Review: This books covers both foil and lead glass work. It begins with simple concepts and examples, introduces all the tools for both crafts and then provides many details and tips on techniques, using actual projects to re-enforce the learning. I recommend this book highly for all those wishing to be artisans of stained glass.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent resource
Review: This is a great compendium of technical advice, suitable for a beginner. Tutorials included for both foil and came techniques. Lots of additional projects included. Recommended as a first book.
