Summary: Tassel Making by Anna Crutchley
Review: As a beginner I found this book VERY confusing. The instructions are not very detailed and key points are left out. I think even an experienced tassel maker would find the instructions/directions confusing at times. Name brand threads / supplies are given and hard to find. Substitute or more detailed supply list would have been nice. The photos and examples are wonderful though! It is worth buying just for the inspiration. Unfortunately I now have to buy a new book to give me the beginning guides that I need!

Review: I totally agree with Cora. As a complete novice I found the pictures and instructions very hard to follow. The pictures are too small to see the detail (no, my eyesight is normal) and, as an example, the instructions for making a ruff give no explanation about what to do with the thread - a critical element! I worked it out for myself but with no help from the book.
I would agree that the book contains many inspirational ideas but on the whole it was a disappointment.

Review: This is a either for advanced tassel makers OR a beautiful coffee table book. Anna's tassel's are completely inspiring and I saw this book first but saw right away I could not do it so I got the The Art of Tassel Making by Susan Dickens to teach me the basics.

This book was my inspiration & I have to admit it's just gorgeous. But you need to learn the basics elsewhere and then keep in mind many of Anna's design precepts and then you will be able to make beautiful almost artistic tassels, like I can now.

The greatest disappointment in this book is no AMERICAN references; US references exist but Anna prefers to give those that are part of the Commonwealth (UK, Canada, Oz, NZ). She also gives the designs for the wood which if you or someone is handy can make themselves by wood-turning. Again if you are not then
you'll have to order from her over in the UK or look via the Net
for a supplier in US.

And of course like all crafts, what do you do with all these tassels? That's the real sorrow. Hint, I give many away.

Review: Very pleased to find this book -although not for the complete beginner I think anyone would find this an inspirational read. Good photographs and terrific to find UK sources and outlets as a lot of good craft books seem to be USA only. The detailed instructions could be a little clearer but that is a minor complaint overall a good addition to anyones craft library!
