Summary: A great trip back to IC passenger service
Review: "Illinois Central Streamliners 1936-1946" is a wonderful look back at the golden age of IC passenger service. Having grown up along the IC route, I have fond memories of taking the train between my home in the Chicago area and my grandpaents in Mattoon, Illinois. I was born in 1948, but the most of the trains seen in this book were still running when I was young. My very earliest recollections are of taking the train with my Mother. The sights, the thrill of riding the trains are renewed reading this book. If you are a passenger train fan, and particularly if you rode the IC, you will love this book. Great picture, lots of detail and descriptions. A great trip down memory lane.
