Rating: Summary: A great introduction to papermaking. Review: I could only find one review of this book when searching on the web, which was pretty off putting, however I was pleasantly surprised with it. As a novice papermaker, with an interest in making paper and objects out of paper I found this book light hearted, interesting and an easy read, as well as being a good introduction to the craft of paper making. The photography and styling are beautiful, the projects may be simple, but they are also very inspiring. I think the concept behind the projects was to inspire with colours, textures and shapes, what you can acheive with all kinds of paper- to give people ideas, rather than challenge experienced paper crafters with complicated and unachievable projects. If you are looking for an easy intro to the craft of papermaking and some stunning and simple projects to make then this is the book for you
Rating: Summary: Way too elementary! I wasted my money! Review: I looked all over the Web to find a review of this book before I ordered it, and finding none, I took a chance. This book is great if you like the look of toilet paper tube organizers on your desk. Great if you can't figure out for yourself how to fold paper in a box, either square or round. The pictures were absolutely luscious, but the whole book was lacking in interesting original content. Mostly fancified names for a bunch of silly projects with expensive papers I can't find near me. Projects include: 3 tubes rolled together to hold your pencils, a drawstring paper window shade, paper luminaries with Roman numerals as decorations, a tube used as a trash can, a plain Japanese screen, a checkerboard woven lamp shade - circa 1973, notepaper and envelope, file folders, basic gift wrapping, simple gift bags, torn paper collage called "greeting cards", pillow boxes that have been on TV for years, make your own 10 page journal, elastic corded storage wallets, plain paper flowers with a paper tube for a vase, 2 styles of paper frames, sachet, boxes - bonbon, heart, star, round, square photo album I'm not impressed. In fact, I am disappointed. If I had seen this book on a clearance table for $3, I wouldn't have bought it. Too bad I didn't get to look at it first! "Paper Perfect" tells you a lot! The papers are pretty. The content of the book, however, is seriously lacking. Too bad the prettiness of the projects is completely dependent on gorgeous papers to distract the viewer.
