Review: Steven King has given us a little masterpiece of horror here. It's a dramatic tale of terror and isolation, put in a cardboard box with wrapping paper and a bow. These are all real characters, put through a sort of hell, and the end results are a twisting, thrashing, horrific tale of an endless inky void of evil known as the Overlook Hotel. Quite simply, Steven King has written this masterfully, making you terrified of little, simple things, like fire hoses. He summons forth images of such indescribable beauty and terror that they will linger with you long after...... the hotel, rising high over the mountains, like a mad scientists' castle from the horror movies of old...... the ghastly clock, with it's clockwork demons...... the drowned lady in the bathtub...... the list goes on indefinitely. In sort, this is a modern masterpiece of terror of indescribable proportions, and one that will linger with you long after. Highly recommended.

Review: I have read Stephen King's novel for a long time. Above all, "The Shining" was very exiting, and frightening novel. Its atmosphere s so absorbing, and that's why I have read this novel three of four times. I also recommend you to watch Stanley Kubrick's movie based on this novel. Although Kubrick made very strange adaptation, but it also has chilling atmosphere.

Review: This was one of the first Stephen King novels that I read......and definitely not the last. The characters that he portrays are brought to life with such realisation that it's hard not to be totally absorbed into the fictitous world of the Overlook Hotel.
