Summary: ONE OF HIS BEST WORKS
Review: Desperation is the best Stephen King book since Rose Madder. His characters, the way he weaves his spell is amazing. Also, I like his gentler side--he mixes in God and religion with an evil spirit and cats nailed to road signs. And we let himoff the hook for it! But really, he's one of my favorite authors, has been and always will be.

Summary: WOW!!! I couldn't put it down!
Review: I am not an avid reader...but, I couldn't seem to put this book down. The book is 690 pages...the longest that I have ever read, and I read it in six days...that is a world record for me. Well worth the money!

Summary: Not bad, kept my attention....but not his best work.
Review: This book didn't have the power of THE STAND, or even SALEMS'LOT (which really scared me all those years ago!) If you're a die hard SK fan, go ahead and read it. His best works for me are still LOT, CARRIE,THE SHINING, and THE STAND!

  Summary: SCARY!!!!!!!!!
Review: This was the most horrifing book I have ever read. I would never read it at night or when I was al one. It sent chills down my spine on many occasions. There are many twists and turns in the plot, you are always surprised. I highly recommend this book!

Summary: not the best Stephen's novel
Review: of course this book's better than Regulator but it's still doesn't make any sense. i know it suppose to be scary but it turns out to be boring. from my point of view, this book seems like just repeating itself and Stephen King's just adding words, phases, sentances, paragraph to make the story longer and fill in those pages.

Summary: Thank God Bachman is dead
Review: The book was good. Only one problem, all the characters sound like the same person. Very dissapointed.

Summary: Ranks up with The Stand
Review: Surprisingly, I read "Desperation" in a week...usually when I read a Stephen King novel, it takes me at least 2-3 weeks...this book ranks up there with "The Stand", with its fight pitting a group of innocent travellers against an unearthly being...for those of you who are not a big fan of King's works, you will really be surprised with "Desperation"...the book makes you want to keep going, almost hoping the horror/adventure never comes to a close, because it is so intense...I highly recommend this book to King fans and for those who want to begin reading some of King's books...you will be amazed!

  Summary: pageturner
Review: I had read few novels (none of King's) before I took Desperation out of the library. It read fast, despite its large(r than normal) size. It was not such a great novel but it was definitely not a bad one. If you can get it free, its great, but not all worth buying. King has done better (yeah, yeah, blah, blah). However, I do recommend it, and strongly to begining readers. I heard it is being made into a movie, which, if it is faithful to the book, I won't see it until it reaches video (due to the gory details described in the book). I really liked reading the gore, but I don't think I would like to visualize it on the screen.

  Summary: Gory details???
Review: Gory details??? Maybe some of his images are sickening to the soft bellied mother of 2 suburban children, but my grandmother, a diehard king fan, and i do not see them as unnecessary. If you dont like it leave and leave the rumors that King is a horror novelist behind as well. He does not write horror novels, he tells tales and brings characters to life. Desperation was only saved by its dealings with a form of "evil" that are a bit different than the classic forms of it and by the characters. If it had not been for the personalities and the normalness of the characters i would have stopped reading a long time ago. Had king not written the book i would have called it a triumph, but i expected much more from him.

  Summary: Intriguant, captivant et inquiétant...
Review: It was a long time since i've read SK, but even a bit more mature, i felt the same joy living more than reading, the book. It was the first time i read it in VO, english version and i juste enjoyed it too much. Nobody speaks about the spiritual side of SK,it's a real shome trough, in this end of a millenium obsess by TV and money and sex. That is for me, his more interesting side, like a second degree of awareness buried into popular gore... I hope it helped some people to open their hearts to the power of God. I hope it helped people see a little clearer about general daily evil, always hidden behind our primal instints and fears. For that and more, Mr King, you have all my respect once again... Amen.
