Rating: Summary: I'm afraid I'll read my copy to tatters. Review: This is my favorite fantasy novel, I'm afraid I'll read my copy to tatters. Bellairs makes the fantastic believable, makes magic very real. He can realize more fantasy world in a paragraph than most authors can do in a chapter, and his quirky and engaging tale has been a pleasure and an inspiration to me.

Rating: Summary: Started out Good but the ending was disappointing Review: This very short novel came with many fine praises, i.e. "best thing since _Lord of the Rings_". Instead I would described it as a short, cute fantasy about two wizards who go on a adventure and fight an evil wizard. The problem I had is that the world the story is set in is never really more than a string of small towns and villages. Then comes the deus ex-machina who pops up in the second to last chapter and the whole story wraps up very abruptly and unsatisfying. The version I read had some ink illustrations and can be read from ages 8 and upwards.
Rating: Summary: Back in print? HOODY HOO! Review: Yep, I was surprised about this ... a year after I go on a Quest Through the Used Bookstores looking for a copy (1st edition paperback, tho! w00t!), this comes back into print. First reaction: I could have bought this new! Second reaction: Wait! People won't have to go through hoops to find this book by the ALMIGHTY BELLAIRS! TFitF is superior. For those of you who find yourself reading your Bellairs books and going, "wait a minute..these have functionally identical plots" and / or being able to basically read them from memory, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. You will never tire of this book. It contains the best of the veiled Lovecraft references, grand description, disturbing melty things, and the usual occult-a-rifficness we've come to expect from Bellairs. Buy this book RIGHT NOW.
