Rating: Summary: Great book, but diappointing adaptation. Review: Anne Rice's "The Vampire Lestat" is a great book in and of itself, and I definitely reccomend reading it - however, not as a graphic novel. I am a huge fan of Anne Rice, but I'm also not prejudiced against the graphic format either. In fact, I love comics in any form. However, this graphic novel is a huge disappointment. The script is amazing, Faye Perozich manages to convey the wonder and excitement of the original book, but... The art is terrible. Lestat's face in many instances looks ugly and deformed, which directly contradicts the book - in fact Lestat was chosen for vampirism for his good looks. Marius, who was once a proud Roman Senator, wears a mullet. Armand looks all right at first, but when the book revisits the events told in "Interview With The Vampire", he looks positively hiddeous. Do yourself a favor. Don't waste your money on this. If you absolutely must have an Anne Rice graphic novel, buy "The Tale of the Body Thief", which is just as good a story, and much, much better art, which reminds me of P. Craig Russel at times and focuses on the lushness and beauty of Anne Rice's world.

Rating: Summary: A rare book that is WELL WORTH THE MONEY! Review: I first became involved with the Vampire Chronicles when I saw Interview with the Vampire six years ago. I loved the film and I really liked Louis, Claudia, and Armand. I HATED Lestat. I thought he was a evil monster with a black heart. I read Interview with the Vampire eight months ago and I still hated Lestat. I hated him so much that I skipped The Vampire Lestat and started reading Queen of the Damned. I saw the graphic novel of The Vampire Lestat in a used bookstore a month or two after I read IWTV and I looked through it. I was amazed at the beautiful artwork and I realized that there was more to Lestat than I thought. (He was not as evil as I thought he was before. He is good and evil. A living contradiction.) After I saw the Graphic Novel I saved my money and I bought it a few weeks later from the same store. I read the novel and I was completely blown away. It is PERFECT. It is dark and beautiful and it becomes very real as you read it. As you read the book Lestat almost makes you wish that you could be immortal. He also shows you that he is a complex character that cannot be labeled. (Most characters in movies and books are two-dimensional. They are either "Good" or evil" and that is what makes them dull. Lestat is everything and nothing and that is why he is fascinating.) Lestat is great because he is a perfect contradiction. (He is strong but he is weak. He is independent but he is dreadfully lonely.) I read TVL novel after I read the graphic novel and I now love the Lestat character. This graphic novel is impossible to find! It is out-of-print and it is VERY hard to find! You HAVE to buy this graphic novel if you have the chance. It will quickly become one of your most treasured items and you will be really glad you bought it if you are a Vampire Chronicles fan. If you don't buy it when you have the chance it will most likely become like the infamously insanely hard to find THE CROW graphic novel by James O'Barr. (A great book I would kill to have.)
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Review: I read Interview With The Vampire first, and I hated Lestat so much. After reading this book I absolutely adore him, and actually think of Louis as the weak evil one. Ok I wouldn't go that far, I still love him too. Lestat is an amazing character, and it blows my mind to think of what he went through right before meeting Louis. You might as well buy Queen of the Damned with this one, because after you finish this one you'll be mad that you have to make an extra trip to the bookstore to get that one. :) This book is absolutely amazing. Take my word on buying Queen of the Damned along with this one. I had to wait 2 agonizing weeks before I could get my copy!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Just great! Review: I really did love this book, from cover to cover -absolutely fantastic! You really feel an empathy, not just with the main character of Lestat, but of the others mentioned throughout the book. I have read all of the Vampire Chronicles, which Anne has presented us with, up to Memnoch - the Devil, and all are very unique, yet they also posess the same qualities of intregue and facsination throughout the tales. My favorite of them all is Mischeivous, Charasmatic, Charming, Caring, yet selfish charcter of the blood-thirsting Vampire Lestat! Who is not so much evil as he is deviant! I would not even wish to spoil such a fantastic book for anyone contemplating on purchasing it - all I can say, is that, I am not a great reader, but this is one book, I read solid for 5 days! I loved it - Well done Anne!
Rating: Summary: One Soul's Journey Into a Personal Hell Review: I would personally recomend this book to ANYONE! It is full of vivid imagery and detailed descriptions of a mind bending, all-too real charecture, Lesat de LionCourt. This book takes it's reader inside this Vampire's head, into his dreams, feelings, and world, so compleatly that you begin to loose touch with reality if you read this book too long. It needs no pictures really, for the graphicly depicting descriptions will have powerful images running through your head as you race through it to see what happens. Written by the always wonderful Anne Rice, this book grips you and will change how you percive the world forever.
Rating: Summary: Exciting and horrible, but also beautiful Review: I'm actually in the middle of reading this book, but Anne Rice has captured me. With her exciting and terrifying tales of what's beyond our comprehension. The Vampire Lestat is the sequel of Interview with the Vampire and tells the story of the vampire who created Louis, the main character in the previous book. I think This sequel is better than the first one. Because I can see the landscapes and situations described so clearly in my head. My mom can't understand what's so great about vampires. I think the freak her out. Well, there's not really anything great about them. They're disgusting. But at the same fascinating. I just think man will always be fascinated by the supernatural. I sure find these vampires intrigueing. They're not like Buffy's vampires, brainless bloodsuckers. They are intelligent and special. Wondering what they are and why they exist. These books also deals with questions about life and death, Heaven and Hell. I can recommend them very much. I'm gonna have to read the rest of her books too. ***** out of ***** stars. Definitely.
Rating: Summary: Lestat: A timeless vampire Review: If fictional vampire stories are up your ally, then I encourage you to read the novel "The Vampire Lestat" by Anne Rice. Although it is the second book in "The Vampire Chronicles" I strongly urge you to read it BEFORE book one: "Interview With the Vampire." Where do I begin? This book is a phenomonal tale of a vampire who could survive and flourish in any epoch of history, and have a Hell of a good time too! In this autobiography of Lestat de Lioncourt, he will take you to his mortal boyhood in France, to his later luxurious life in New Orleans, and right up to the present when he is in the midst of waking the most ancient of vampires and holding his first ever rock concert in San Francisco! So as you see, one of Lestat's best traits is that the possibilites are endless and he can accomplish anything he desires. I gaurentee that when you're done drinking up this story, you won't have left a drop...
Rating: Summary: Beloved Lestat Review: Let me begin by telling you how I was introduced to our brat prince. I saw the movie "Interview with the Vampire" about five years ago. I saw the character of Lestat in the movie and was intrigued by him. He was portrayed as the evil type, and was practically hated in the movie. Of course I love evil people, so after reading the novel "Interview with the Vampire", I immediately went to the novel of "The Vampire Lestat". I fell completely in love with Lestat de Lioncourt. I could feel his pain and happiness, everything was so vividly and beautifully described by our wonderful Anne Rice. So then I picked up the graphic novel, and I fell even more in love with Lestat. The graphic novel is so awesome. But, a word of advice. When you pick up TVL, be sure to pick up the Queen of the Damned novel as well, because where TVL leaves you off and craving for more, QOTD picks up and leaves you satisfied. You had better hurry up and pick up the graphic novel because it will soon become an extreme rareity!
Rating: Summary: In Love with Lestat Review: Like a lot of people, I was introduced to Anne Rice through the movie "Interview With a Vampire". I never liked Tom Cruise much, but this character he was portraying was unbelievable. A longtime fan of vampire stories, I have never met in my books anyone like Lestat. When I saw this book, I immediatly read it in just 2 days. Is it possible to fall in love with a novel character? If I wasn't in love with Lestat before, I was after reading this book. I felt for him, I felt him, I saw through his eyes. His mortal life, his vampire life, his loves and loses. I wanted to actually reach out to him. I have continued reading the Vampire Chronicles just to get more of him. I have never read a more well written and complex book. Anne Rice goes so deep and I am forever grateful to her imagination for giving me such a wonderful character to love and follow.
