Rating: Summary: great learning and reference book Review: "Photography" is a wonderful, comprehensive reference for photographers at all levels. Learning about photographic techniques can sometimes be tedious and hard to understand. Bruce makes it about as easy as it can be. This book is very well organized and laid out. One of the things that makes it so nice is the clear photographs that serve as examples. Sometimes it is hard to detect the subtle differences in photographs. The photographs in this book help the reader see these differences (for example, the difference between warm and cold tone papers).

Rating: Summary: the definitive photo textboox Review: Great resource, excellent in nearly all respects from the information and how it's written to design and layout...and beautiful photo examples all throughout. I originally bought this book when it first came out (it was for a college photography class) and I still read it today, both for reference and for enjoyment.
Rating: Summary: A reference for life Review: I actually attended classes taught Mr. Warren and was around when he was developing his first edition. He loved what he did and it showed in his teaching and this is what is in his book. A love and practical understanding and teaching to bring out the "best photographer" in you.
Rating: Summary: great learning and reference book Review: I recommend this book to all photogaphers. It is a great learning aid, and also a great reference for advanced photographers. It contains clear, precise instructions on how to become a master of photographic processes.
Rating: Summary: A detailed overview of a intricate artistic discipline. Review: I utilize and recommend this text in my photography workshops and courses. Bruce Warren has done an excellent job organizing and explaining the basic principles and many aspects of photography. The serious student or photo-enthusiast will gain much basic to intermediate understanding in many areas: basic camera operation, proper exposure, equipment considerations, processing basics, and lighting as well as history and some career orientations. It serves as an excellent general reference and class textbook. Nice job Bruce. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A perfect book for photographers at all levels of expertise. Review: Professor Warren (I've had him) has produced an exceptional book that serves as a text book as well as a reference book. It is current, practical and well laid out. You will want this in your own library for years to come. C. Hollander
Rating: Summary: A photography teacher in your hands Review: The way that Bruce teaches the zone system could not be better explained by Ansel Adams himself, this book will teach you how to master all aspects of photography, and will serve as your base to become a professional or a great enthusiast. It covers all subjects from black and white to color.
