Summary: Patterson improves form last outing, but not worth the cost
Review: After "Pop Goes the Weasel" I swore off buying anymore Patterson books. I borrowed this from my grandmother, and wasreminded why. (Although I will say that this book was at least notcompletely sloppily edited a la "Weasel.") First, thechapter structure left me feeling ripped off--... I expect some BOOKin a book. Second, the villain in this book is laughablly shallow, and the writing about him is tranparently misleading and clearlycontrived to create the "surprise twist." Further, Pattersonneeds to find some new material-- I mean how many times are we reallygoing to believe that Cross has an astounding revelation that thereare TWO villains at work when it happens in his cases over and overand over again?!?! Please. All in all, wait for the paperback orskip this one.

Summary: Great - until the end
Review: This book kept you on the edge of you seat, until the end which was very disappointing, especially if you have read any of the other Patterson books. Lots of violence - some of it was not necessary. But, I would still recommend it to any Patterson fan.

Summary: AARRGGH, why are you keeping us in suspense
Review: As the heading states, Why? This is as good as it can get, if the next Alex Cross book can come this close, then well. James Patterson, how dare you do this to me and my mum. We now have to wait until the next book and that I hope is not long in coming.

You have to feel for Alex, going through all that emotional stress with his girlfriend, family and also starting new relationships. The Mastermind, I didn't get know him till the third last chapter, mmmmmm. Kept me going until then. Sampson once again delivers he wonderful lines of being a sweetheart and Alex's daughter is once more her gutsy self along with her grandmother.

James Patterson, I had to put this book on hold at our library, once I got it, it took my two days and my mum four days out of a 14 day loan.

Can you keep us in suspense with your new book with Alex Cross. Keep up the good writing

Summary: Quick read, but not up to Patterson par
Review: I got this book and finished it in a total of three and a half hours. Although his books are usually a quick read, I became bored with the plot halfway through. Hopefully he will provide criminal motivation and method of thinking in the next book, because the criminal seems totally out of character here. I still haven't decided if I'll read the next one.

Summary: Look out for the final twist.
Review: This a hard book to review, and as I write this is still cannot decide how to rate the book. I have read several of Patterson's books, in particular the Alex Cross series. Well, the twists and turns in this book, eventhough a reader would have come to expect them from this author, are very different from any of his previous books. In his previous books you have learned to look for the villian in the most unsuspecting places, here he out does himself. The ending is really a beginning. It made me a little angry that it ends that way and the next book is not available to pickup the trail. (This book really sets the plot for two future books, or one with a even more twisted plot.) To say any more would give too much away.

In reading other reviews of this book, many people have critizied Patterson's writing style. I, on the other hand, find it refreshing. Normally I would probably give this book 4 stars, (only because it does not quite measure up to my favorite, "Kiss The Girls") but I'm adding one more just to confound the critics.

Summary: Good until the end!
Review: I liked the book. I don't think it's one of his best. I was dissappointed by the ending. I won't give it away but I got the impression that Mr. Patterson just did not know where to go. I do realize that the next book will continue on with the theme and that was the purpose for the ending. However I would have liked a little more excitement and to know what the killer's motivation was. Maybe I missed something!!!

Summary: Too Retorical!
Review: James Patterson seems to be striving to become the king of the retorical question. This book is loaded with them!

If you are at all interested in decent character development or well written dialog - do yourself a favor and don't spend money on this book.

I have read several of Patterson's books, and this is by far the worst - and it will be my last!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best one yet!
Review: I have read 7 of James Patterson's books, this one is the best, so far!! Keep 'em coming!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Grisham-style cheap ending, not well thought out.
Review: I had a feeling when I saw Mr. Patterson hawking this book on television ads that this wasn't going to be a strong read. As I was reading, I had hopes that I was going to be pleasantly surprised, but he resorts to a very cheap trick at the end, forcing a sequel. Furthermore, the plot sort of jumps between situations, which is normal for his books--only this time, he doesn't develop either one very effectively. This book comes across as something that Mr. Patterson did under pressure from his publisher.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I love Detective Alex Cross and his family.
Review: As long as Detective Cross and his partner are in these novels I will read them. I loved the setting of this one and the Clinton masks! WOW! This one could be a true story. I can't wait for the next one. James Patterson is the best!
