Summary: The series plods on...
Review: Although I like the series in general, this book suffers a number of crucial flaws. Firstly, the plot. The characters in this series are at their best when on the run from the world's troubles, dodging disater at every turn and just managing to save the world from the forces of destruction. Instead, this book treats us to a picture of Richard wringing his hands over a hopeless situation for four hundred odd pages, until a solution magically (how else) appears for him. Secondly, the ending is trite and unconvincing. In my opinion, it is clear that Terry Goodkind wanted Richard to walk through the Betrayer's passage, thus betray Kalhan to gain entry to the Temple of the Winds. However, he could not make this work out (where would the sequel be?) and so pasted together some nonsence about spirits taking him there if certain conditions were met. What a cop out. Finally, very few of the minor characters show any depth at all, aside from the marvelous exception of Nathen's duplicity. Zedd is left to wonder the fields to keep him out of the way, Verna and Warren do little, everyone in Andyndell is practiclly asleep until the end. This book seems more filler until Terry Goodkind rediscovers some plot he can use. In short, the book is a major disappointment considerring how well the series started out...

Summary: Their is magic in forgivness.
Review: Temple of the Winds is the best book I have ever read in my life, and I mean that sincerely. Certain quotes stick in my mind even as I write this, number one being, "I think 'Richard' already knows." The climax was tremendous, and the resolution was perfect. This is absolutely the best book in the series. I have been affected by these books, I have been *changed*, because of reading them. Changed for the better. Temple of the Winds had a severe impact upon my life, one that I would not take back, not for anything. If you've not read Goodkind before, you'll want to start on the first. For those "books one through three" readers out their, If you liked the other, you will love this.

Summary: To those who say this book is a spin-off...
Review: GET A CLUE PEOPLE!!! Life is a spin-off ok, get used to it! SoT is the best series I have ever read. It has kept me enthralled the entire time. I re-read the whole series over this spring break. Yes, Goodkind makes me angry. Real angry. He doesn't write fast enough. I want the next 5 books NOW!!! (if there is 5 more) I would suggest these books to everyone. Make sure you have plenty of time to read or I promise you, you will make time once you start this series. Watch out, it seems to get you emotionally involved with the characters too. Warren is the best character! Hehehehe. I think we will be seeing much more of him in the series in the future.

Summary: Better luck next time...
Review: Having read the 4 books in Goodkind's series, as well as the many reviews of this latest installments, I'm forced to agree with those people who gave the title a low rating. Yes, the sexual violence is excessive, but I believe this is due primarily to the fact that there is so little at the opposite end of the spectrum to act as a counter-weight. Furthermore, the characters seem to be as irritated with the constant repetition of plot as the series' readers are; I get the feeling that they too are simply wading through the chaos, gritting their teeth, knowing that it will all work out miraculously in the end. But none of this is enough to justify my rating of a 4. What finally did prompt me both to post my review, and to offer such a low rating, was Goodkind's treatment of Kahlan and Richard in this last edition, (notably the "sex" scene in which Richard is yet again "betrayed"). The whole scene was utterly contrived, and Kahlan's mentality seemed to me to be totally out of character. For that matter, Richard's reactions seemed out of touch with the world around him too... both characters seemed to ignore the very point that Goodkind had brought up only a few pages earlier... that Kahlan's sexual release was as necessary as Richard's to summon the Temple. It's just another case of Goodkind going to elaborate attempts to put stumbling blocks in the couple's path... perhaps with the hope that their overcoming these obstacles will give their little victories more power. Meanwhile, it's left to Nathan to in some way try and advance the actual main plot. I still do plan to buy the 5th book, but only in the hopes of finding a return to the flow, pace, and consistency of characterization which were epitomized in the first two books of the series.

Summary: Up to the challenge as an excellent fourth book
Review: Spinning a tale should not be this easy. Unlike Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series, Terry Goodkind gives the reader much to look forward to in the coming installments of his "Sword of Truth" epic. Fresh adventures and strong characterizations make "Temple of the Winds" one of the strongest sequels this reviewer has ever read.

Summary: Matches the First Three
Review: I feel that this book was just as good as the first three! Goodkind does not copy others style, as was shown in this book. I felt that Drefan was a good character to put in the book because in all of his other books, Goodkind has Richard be so alone in family. It also follows the precedant of the other books, in which Richard trusted and was betrayed. I also feel that we learn more about Kahlan, who for other than being smart, independant, loyal, and loving to Richard, we know nothing about. I feel that Terry Goodkind is an excellent author and cannot wait to read more of his books!

Review: I'm only sorry Terry Goodkind strays a bit from his original theme. But... it won't stop me buying the next sequel should one be forthcoming.

Summary: Goodkind was beaten as a child.
Review: What an interesting person Mr. Goodkind must be. His Sword Of Truth series continues to keep me on edge. You never know who will be killed or raped next. I can appreciate his style. He writes with authority. There is action. There is progress. Every novel is whole on its own. There are common elements in his series and Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series (another great series). Except that Goodkind's story is moving at full pace at all times. Book 2 was the best. I was so worried about the Mother Confessor that I couldn't put it down (a protective male, I am). I would prefer that she not be raped or killed. I hope he continues his work and is not afraid to be even a little "sicker" in the future.

Review: Although Wizards 1st Rule is the best in the series, Temple of the Winds adds plot. I don't understand why TG has left out Zedd and Nathan. They were awesome. Anyone know the name and/or when book 5 is coming out?? Please E-MAIL me.

Summary: Not worth the time it takes to read
Review: Terry goodkinds first 3 books were great.. WFR was great. SOT was the best, and BOTF was not as good but it still kept pace. This last book disgusted me. I dont mind the sex and violence, infact i like it, it adds spice, but there was just to much rape and sexual violence. This book starts out good then goes down hill from page 1, i mean it FLYS down hill. it gets worse and worse... more problems.. I became so frustrated with TG and his 4th book... i thew the book against the wall several times and left fuming, infact it took me 2 weeks to finish book because i just couldnt sit and read this trash... the whole book put richard and the main characters down... the last 10 pages you get a happy ending, but it was way to late.. richard and kahlan should have been married in the 3rd book and have a happy relationship while fighting Jagang.. but TG has to develope unwanted problems between them WHY CANT HE LEAVE THEM ALONE AND CONCENTRATE ON THE "WORLD PROBLEMS" overall i WOULDNOT recommend this book to anyone , you wont be missing out on anything... If i could go back in time i would skip the fourth book and read the 5th... u wont be missing anything but trash.
