Summary: Just Plain Pornographic
Review: Anybody who loves the clean down-home books of Lilian Jackson Braun will not like this book. I can't even figure out why it is about her. The book is filled with sex and disgusting body references. It is funny - especially chapter 11, but I was terribly disappointed after reading all the five star reviews. I wonder if those people actually have read all about Mr. Q and Pickax. I love the 'Cat Who' books and expected this to be in the same vein. I had no desire to endure so many sex scenes, and had to struggle to even finish the book - ever hoping for some redemption. This has no part in the 'Cat Who' series. The cats don't even solve the crime, and of course they don't kill Lilian Jackson Braun. The plot seems incidental to the pornography. I am sure Lilian Jackson Braun is not thrilled with this parody.

Summary: A most raucous work of fiction
Review: Robert Kaplow's outstanding mystery parody, The Cat Who Killed Lilian Jackson Braun, is the unabridged and superbly produced audiobook version. Burlesque and humorous, Kaplow borrows the identity of the real and popular author of twenty-four "Cat Who..." mystery series as that of the unfortunate, decapitated murder victim at the center of a morass of bizarre extremes. A most raucous work of fiction, The Cat Who Killed Lilian Jackson Braun is superbly narrated by Arte Johnson and highly recommended for those who are not faint of heart! 4 cassettes, 4.75 hours

Summary: Idiots Beware! All others, buy!
Review: What a gem. I'm laughing as I write this. Kaplow has lampooned everyone in this fast paced, intelligent read. If you don't laugh out loud, you simply should get some help. This is a parody unlike any other you have read.

This is a quick read and a great gift if the person you have in mind is intelligent and funny. There are some parts that are rather bawdy, but that is part of the hilarity.

Parts of the humor bowl you over, and parts are subtle and require a bit of intelligence to truly comprehend. What a gift this guy has. Sign me up for the sequel!

Summary: HIP-MATIZED!
Review: In the words of Albert Einstein, better known as the Hip Einie, this book is a "sphere gasser"!

Summary: EMBARRASSINGLY FUNNY
Review: We've been passing this book around my dorm instead of studying for exams. It is a wild ride. All the guys who read it say "This is the funniest thing I've ever read." All the girls who read it say "What kind of a sick mind could dream this up?" I guess it's a gender thing. But I roared outloud when I read it. It's so outrageous you just can't believe it.

Summary: WILDLY FUNNY
Review: Not for prudes! But truly hilarious. This guy takes on everybody. I'd heard Kaplow as Moe Moskowitz on NPR. But here's Moe with the brakes off! Wow. Fasten your safety-belts, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Summary: Surprising
Review: This novel is not so much a parody of LJB as much as it's a just a wild free-for-all. A kind of two hundred page rant on books, authors, mysteries, sex, suburbia. It keeps crossing the line into really outrageous bad taste, but that's what makes it so funny. At least for me. And it really was funny.

Summary: A laff-riot!
Review: Kaplow's new gag-fest is his funniest work since "Wooden Babies"! The jokes come non-stop, the plot is absurdly compelling, the sex parts are oddly unerotic, but what the hell -- this book is a winner. Or should be.
