Rating: Summary: A compelling, emotional roller coaster!! Couldnt put it down Review: This novel plays like a well tuned guitar. I was rivoted to my couch for one day and didnt put it down till it was finished. The diary entrances from a mother to her son is so emotionally compelling and draining. This is not your typical Patterson novel--kudos to him for being able to bring out such strong emotions. This is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Awful Review: This is a very sappy book. The characters are one dimensional and the relationships are completely unbelievable. It is a very easy read but is not worth spending your time and money on.
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Review: I thought this was a great book. I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting and I couldn't help but connect with each of the characters. Grab your box of tissues and turn the ringer off. It's worth it!
Rating: Summary: A Sweet Love Story Review: I just finished reading this book at the beach. What a sweet, sweet story. I cried and cried, and so loved the characters. Have also read and greatly enjoyed The Notebook and Shade of the Maple this summer. Get your Kleenex ready!
Rating: Summary: i was embarrassed for mr. patterson Review: this is the first and last novel i will ever read by j. patterson. i have eight graders that could have written a better book. in fact, jr. high girls would probably like this book, so i guess it could have an audience. please don't insult your intelligence by wasting your time on this pitiful story--and so poorly written at that. i have a feeling that this book was a joke on mr. patterson's part. maybe some of his friends dared him to write a "love story". i cannot stress how horrible it is....shame on you mr. patterson......
Rating: Summary: Dreadful Review: I really, really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately, it just didn't ever click into place. I think the main problem was that I didn't like any of the characters: not pathetic, melodramatic, "why me?" Katie, not super-great-guy Matt, and definitely not self-absorbed Suzanne. I didn't even like the completely unrealistic baby Nicholas.Aside from that, the book moved along at a good pace. I read it in one sitting and the writing was engaging, smooth, and clear, if a bit over-the-top in places. The ending was utterly predictable and the denouement abrupt, leaving me with a vague feeling that the entire preceding drama had no point. If you're looking for a quick summer read, or a cheap tear-jerker, this is the place to look -- although the two-dimensional characters might not tug your heartstrings hard enough to draw tears.
Rating: Summary: HORRIBLE Review: I KNOW YOU ARE BROWSING THROUGH THESE OTHER REVIEWS SO I'LL BE SHORT. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK IF YOU'RE A FAN OF HIS OTHER WORKS LIKE ALONG CAME A SPIDER AND 1ST TO DIE. IT IS A WELL WRITTEN BOOK, BUT I DON'T THINK IT IS REALLY FOR MEN.
Rating: Summary: Tear Jerker!! Tissues Needed when reading this!! Review: I have had this book on my shelf for 2 years now, and I finally pulled it out yesturday evening and started it. I just finished it and I swear, I want to kick myself for not reading it sooner, way sooner. I love how this story and jumped from diary to real life with Katie. I was so caught up in this book I didnt even move from where I sat for 2 hrs. I started crying when I realised Matt took over the diary and I knew something had happened. But I didnt believe it was that bad. I cried and tried to finsh the last pages thru my teary eyes. The story ended great and I liked how the characters moved on. PLEASE WRITE MORE LIKE THIS PATTERSON!! I loved it!!
Rating: Summary: possibly the cheesiest book ever written Review: "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" is perhaps the cheesiest book I've ever read. It's simply oozing with sappy sayings. And the book is totally predictable and unbelievable. I'm sorry but what baby is that perfect? If I had a baby that never cried or made noise I'd probably have a heart attack as well out of shock. What husband is that perfect? This house painter writes the worst poetry I've ever read. If these females are so educated, don't you think they would know a little bit about contraceptives? I've seen more character developement in the Little Mermaid than this book. The characters are flat and one dimensional. The more I read this book, the more infuriated I got with expressions such as "isn't it lucky?", "Life doesn't go on forever. Enjoy every moment", and the endless professions of love and how lucky every character is. When I bought this book I thought I was getting a good fiction book, not a self help book. This book is a never ending hallmark card that attempts to pull at your heart strings with love and tragedy. There is nothing intelligent, interesting, or even original in this book. It's just a bunch of sappy sayings recycled to make a quick buck. Don't be fooled.
Rating: Summary: couldn't put it down Review: this patterson book is not like any of the others in the fact that this was not in the mystery genre. but, as a mother of a 4 year old and specifically an 18 month old boy, this story hit home. i could not put it down. i honestly read it in one sitting. make sure you have your kleenex ready for this one!!!
