Rating: Summary: Palpable, provocative Fantasy Review: I have to rate this read 5 stars. This is like a Red Shoe Diaries movie--in text. Though all the stories earned merit, I was profoundly affected by Emma Holly's tale "Luisa's Desire"--the classic story of a man seduced from his holy calling by an irresistible temptation. A very close second was Christine Feehan's potent tale "The Awakening", about a man, his life mate, and their shape-shifting destiny in the rain forest. You can count on Christine Feehan to always go to obscure depths to tell a good story. This title will not end up on the shelf covered in dust bunnies; you are sure to revisit these powerful and compelling stories.

Rating: Summary: Two Stars Review: I purchased FANTASY because it appeared on so many List Manias. Sadly, I must say I wish I hadn't been so gullible. Except for one of the four stories, I found myself reading it simply because I spent money on it.
Rating: Summary: An ok read Review: I was honestly looking forward to this book, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I loved The Widow's Auction by Sabrina Jefferies, and Mr. Speedy was cute if a little stretched. But Luisa's Desire and The Awakening, by Christine Feehan basically set my teeth on edge. Luisa's Desire about a vampire in the 1600's was so far from believability it was ludicrous. And the Awakening was VERRRY Preachy. We all know the rain forest is in danger, but we don't need to be hit over the head with it.
Rating: Summary: Remarcably written Review: I was stupefied, how much can we accept and believe, while we read, if a story is well written. All of the is, but especially that of Christine Feehan. A leopard - man did not seem extravagant, nor she slowly transformed, and accepting it. So sensual, so wonderfully concieved stories !I just finished them, very pleasent reading. I will read it again, to understand how it is achieved to accept reading so much "far away" fanthasies !
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Sabrina Jeffries story! Review: Sabrina Jeffries knows how to write a page-turner with vibrant characters who are truly motivated to do what they must. Her "Widow's Auction" is a wild Regency that kept me enthralled and captivated by the circumstances of the main characters. (But how the heck does a lady sneak out of an upper-class hotel while wearing a mask?) Minger's "Mr. Speedy" needed more room to work up a steam. As it was every aspect was too quickly dealt with, exposing the superficial instead of delving deeper for real meaning. A fifteen-minute, cliched conversation leads to lifelong soul commitment? (Large breasts can be sufficiently wrapped to fool a roomful of men?) The humor of the seminar needed to be milked more as well, and leaving out the same kind of symbol that "As You Were Sleeping" used (there it worked because it was used on a multitude of levels) would have helped, too. It all had potential but needed to spread out to develop it. Feehan's "The Awakening" utilized a pitifully weak heroine and overbearing hero and combined it with prose that repeated itself in an attempt at mystery and eroticism. I'd like to have seen a plot in there, but the two characters were too busy lusting: him after her, and she after herself; to busy themselves with an actual story that I could care about. I couldn't finish this one. Similarly, "Luisa's Desire," though rich with marvellous prose, was laid over a non-existent structure. Like many vampire stories of late (cf the Anita Blake series, which I have given up), this character was too busy being Perfect and Serene to bother searching for any kind of personal motivation. If she'd been truly anxious to reach her goal I would have kept reading beyond the third chapter.
Rating: Summary: Another keeper Review: The new anthology Fantasy has 4 authors: Sabrina Jeffries, Elda Minger, Emma Holly and Christine Feehan. Hers is the novella I read first. The Awakening is a beautiful description of the Rain Forest, its beauty and perils, and a new race of Shapeshifters. The hero and heroine are so attacted to each other, that the ice cubes are melting. One can only hope that Ms Feehan will create more books of this new group of people.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: There isn't a dud in the book. All of the stories are highly erotic and imaginative and interesting to read.
Rating: Summary: Good Romance Collection Review: This is a really good collection of romance stories by very different authors, the theme being of course fantasy. My favorite was the shapeshifter romance by Ms. Feehan, but the others were also very entertaining.
