Rating: Summary: Even Funnier Than the Original Review: Don't worry that this sequel might be a letdown from "Confessions of a Shopaholic". I thought it was even better. Becky Bloomwood is back, this time with her television career going well, her love life in great shape ... but, with those old spending habits as strong as ever. Accompanying her boyfriend to the States, she hits New York City like a whirlwind and injects more than a little money into the NY economy. The plot of this book is, I think, quite a bit stronger than the first book with a little intrigue lurking in the background. If you've ever enjoyed a good shopping spree in New York (or have ever dreamed of having one), you will love her exploits. I read this book in a 24 hour period - I laughed and laughed and just couldn't get enough of it.
Rating: Summary: Shopaholic Takes Manhatten! Review: Becky Bloomwood, heroine of the novel "Confessions of a Shopaholic," is back! She paid off her bills, got a killer job as a financial advisor on her favorite morning TV show and has a wonderful boyfriend, Luke! When he tells her he is contemplating moving to New York, she is a little unsure. They decide to take a two week trip there to check it out and once Becky arrives, she is in love with the city! She finds Bloomindales and Barneys and sample sales and Vera Wang, she thinks she's died and gone to heaven! She starts spending money like crazy .. and ends up getting herself in even bigger trouble than she did last time back in London. I absolutely loved this novel. I read it the same night I read Confessions of a Shopaholic and I thought they were both hilarious. Becky is a very likeable character with thought processes we can ALL relate to! The writing is fast paced and I managed to read this entire book in a couple of hours. My only problem with the book is that I wish the author (Sophie Kinsella) had spent more time on the relationship between Luke and Becky and a tad bit less time on shopping mishaps. Even so, it was a fun novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend reading it! It's one of those books that's so fun and fast, its hard to put down once you start reading!
Rating: Summary: FAST READ......EXCELLENT STORYLINE Review: I waited months and months for the sequel of Confessions of a Shopaholic to come out and when it finally did in January I was excited. I read the book within 3 days because this book was such a fast read that I couldnt bare to put the book down. I wanted to keep reading and reading to fine out what was going to happen to Ms. Becky Bloomwood and Luke Brandon. The end is a bit predictable but still good! What is going to happen to Beck and Luke and what decisions will she have to make in her life to make the relationship work? You will just have to read the book and find out! I was able to relate to the first book because it took place in London and I go there all the time, but then i was also able to relate to New York since I have been there as well. Everything that was happening to Becky seemed to be things that i could forsee happening in my own life. If you are looking for a fast read and funny times, this is definately the book that you need to read! Pick it up soon or better yet pick it up today!

Rating: Summary: Hilarious Sequel Review: Becky Bloomwood is at it again in this hilarious sequel to "Confessions of a Shopaholic," the debut novel by London author Sophie Kinsella. Becky has, supposedly, cleaned up her act, paid her outstanding bills, and is off to a fresh start with her very rich boyfriend, Luke, and her great new job on TV's "Morning Coffee" as their financial expert (ironic as is seems). Becky learns that Luke is planning to move from London to New York and he wants her to go with him. Luke is totally obsessed with his work and focused on "making it in America." They head for the Big Apple for a short trip of mostly business meetings for Luke. Becky also has an important interview lined up. Naturally, Becky's trying to keep her promise to her flatmate, Suze, and stick to a strict budget, no extra spending. Desperately, she tries not to think about shopping. But, you know Becky, full of unique excuses and rationalizations. She's thinking, "I'm sure I read somewhere that Bloomingdale's is quite an admired piece of architecture." I won't elaborate on Becky's run-in at the gym - quite funny. I felt so bad for Becky, such torture. How much willpower do you expect her to have . . . on Fifth Avenue? . . . in Saks? . . . all 10 floors of it!? She does try to take in some culture, though, at the Guggenheim (well, the Guggenheim Museum Store, anyway). Things get pretty out-of-hand and Becky finds that she may have ruined everything for herself and for Luke. You're not getting any more from me - you'll have to read this one yourself. Another winner for author Sophie Kinsella. Can hardly wait for her third book :)

Rating: Summary: Shopaholic Takes Manhattan Rox! Review: Shopaholic Takes Manhatten was a great book. It was really funny and was about a subject I find really interesting. Through Bex's journey through her debt troubles, she somehow finds the courage to hold her head up high and go on with her life. I really admire her for that. I really think I grasped the book well because afer Bex went to Barney's and saw all the personal shoppers I thought she should get a job there! Guess what she does at the end?! I really liked this book and can't wait to read Shopaholic Ties The Knot!
Rating: Summary: ***Another Great Read!*** Review: First off, you must start by reading the first in this trio of Kinsella's: "Confessions Of A Shopaholic". And let me say, you don't have to be a "shopaholic" to fully enjoy these books! (Psst! I hate shopping!) If you're not hooked with "Confessions..", try this anyway. I just find Kinsella's style of writing hilarious! Becky (our infamous heroine) is just too funny! Amidst all her hijinks with trying to hide her shopping, she is just so fun to watch squirm. She seems so real. Her dilemnas just might hit close to home for many of us. I saw symbolism in her shopping/trying-not-to-shop ordeal. I also was laughing out loud at the thought of someone salivating at the site of a Saks! Rofl... I am a married mom w/ two toddler boys & this trio of books I checked out from the library & read all within two weeks. (A lot of dedicated reading for a busy mom!) Can't say enough about this author....... eager to read "Can You Keep A Secret?".
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: Shopaholic Takes Manhattan is a continuation of Confessions of a Shopaholic. Becky Bloomwood is a financial adviser on a morning talkshow in London with a great boyfriend and a great roomate. Things start to change thought when she finds out that her boyfriend is going to start a company in New York and that her flatmate is dating her (the flatmates) cousin. Becky moves with her boyfriend to New York and absolutly loves the city, except for one thing his bitchy mother. She does not let that get in the way of her shopping thought and spends most of the day going to places like Bloomingdales, Saks, and places like that. It all catches up with her though when a tabloid in London has a report about hopw London's top financial consultant owes many pounds to London shops and still spends her time shopping till she drops in all of New York's finest stores. This leads to her getting fired from her job at the morning show as well as her relationship with Luke. She goes back to London and just as she thinks that she hit it ruff she finds out about her flatmate and the flatmates cousin. The flatmate though has a plan. Sell her stuff, and pay off her cards. Becky does this and the plan works, she gets out of debt and she and Luke get back together.
Rating: Summary: More Becky Bloomwood Hilarity! Review: I loved this book as much as its predecessor, "Confessions of a Shopaholic". We think Becky had finally gotten her act together at the end of the first book, but NOOOOOOO. How could we have been so wrong? This time she's in Manhattan, a shopper's version of Mecca. My one and only reservation with this book is the character of Luke. With all his millions, couldn't he help Becky out a little when he finds out about her financial mess? C'mon, Luke, you're supposed to be in love! Aside from his slightly harsh attitude at times, it all works out in the end. I really like the character of Suze - she's a friend in a million! Once again, Sophie Kinsella has written a really funny, engrossing book. It took me no time at all to finish this one - I couldn't put it down - and now I'm in the middle of the third "Shopaholic" book. Wonderful reading, very worth the time!
