  Summary: Pretty decent
Review: The book is difficult to follow but adequately projects a type of human countrified suffering of long ago that is spell-binding.

  Summary: Confusing, but good
Review: I'm in the middle of this book, and I think it's amazing. I don't quite understand the symbolism of the fish, but other than that this book is really great. Faulkner was a genius! I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who likes him this much.

Summary: This book expanded my view like none else.
Review: I read this book for my AP Senior English class and thought it a little grusome at times but also brilliant. But I am writing this to clear something up. When Vardaman says; "My mother is a fish," it is a Christian symbol of dying and coming back again. When Addie dies, Vardaman believes she came back as the fish and will continue to do so as the fish is always replenished.

Summary: I give the book 5 stars
Review: This book was awsome. Contrary to what the last paragraph before the reader's reviews states, this book is not about love and family relationships. This book shows the reader a tragicly funny event that occurs in the south. The family burys Addie not because they love her and wish to fulfill there mother's last dying request but to go to town for their own selfish reasons. An excellent novel, comical and thought provoking. I read it in a single sitting a true tour de force

  Summary: Stylistic but confusing
Review: While Faulkner's methods are superb and his protrayal of these country people is extremely accurate, I found his writing very difficult to read. His method of prose is reminiscent of Toni Morrison, though her writing finds spirit in its oddity. By paying close attention to every word written by Morrison, you can find so many hidden, wonderful messages. Faulkner left me feeling as if I needed to read the book again because I missed the big picture. Perhaps I read too quickly and did not stop to appreciate every word.

Summary: Yes, One of the Greatest Works of American Literature
Review: Actually I had avoided this book until I had read what sounded like Faulkner's most interesting and important works. And I am glad I did wait, As I Lay Dying is very funny in a grim way and terribly sad. Having come from Appalachia, I can see the essential truth in his portrayal of the white -trash Bundren family. (My mother is a fish ????) Let's all hope that the Sean Penn film version pulls no punches.

Summary: Maybe, the greatest novel of American Literatature...
Review: When I read Faulkner first,I decided to read other novels of him,and after reading most of novels and stories of this great man; it is seen obviously that his most impotrant novel is As I Lay Dying.Faulkner's eyes are magnificient, they see many things that ordinary people never see..

Summary: Faulkner is an artist with language.
Review: I'm a freshman in college and I was required to read this book my junior year in highschool. I loved it so much that I chose to read it again for my final essay in Composition II this semester. It is really intriguing if you are a person who is fascinated with analyzing characters and utilizing psychological interpretations of Faulkner's character's actions. I cannot reiterate enough the fact that this is a captivating book that will not let you put it down.

  Summary: Great Read!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. At first, I thought it was a little slow and even somewhat hard to read, but towards the middle I really got into it. My favorite character is Jewel. He is extremely independent, self assured, and hard-working. Contrary to the belief of others in the book, he is the one who seems to love his mother the most. If anyone has the chance to read this book, I highly recommend it. As an English major, I must say that this book is one of the best I've read!

Summary: People actually liked this book?
Review: The book was absolutely awful. Not one person had any sensible thoughts. If someone came close to making sense, their thoughts were hard to follow with a different speaker each chapter. All i got out of this book was: don't cross a river with a coffin, and bananas must be really tasty (the characters probably ate over 10 tons of them)
