Summary: Masterpiece
Review: I have twin boys, so this book touch me in an emotional way. My twins don't have emotional problems, but as I read this book it was always on my mind. Even just being a parent this book can get to you.

Wally Lamb is a very good writer and this book will definitely go down in history, this much I know is true!!

Summary: Good and Plenty!
Review: Yes, it's a big book to my delight. I read Wally Lamb's "She's come undone" and thought hmmmm..it was OK. When Oprah recommended this one for her book club I decided to give Mr. Lamb another try because I really like big books and because it's so hard for me to resist Oprah's recommendations (so enthusiastic). This book just keeps coming and coming. How DO people make this stuff up? Every page was worth the effort!

Summary: A Wonderful Accident
Review: I reluctantly picked up this lengthly book at the library and took it home, generally prefering novels to be about half the size of IKTMIT. I wasn't really eager to start into it and nearly took it back before figuring that it couldn't hurt to try a few pages. I started reading, enjoying its quality of prose, feeling that Dominick's story was going to go in a self-serving predictable way, and was very happily surprised by how shaded and revealing and truthful the narriative became. Those 900 pages went by so fast! I'm now trying to get my friends to read it, and of course they say.."I don't know, its kinda long...

Summary: One of the most thought provoking books Ive ever read
Review: I enjoyed this novel so much that I had a hard time putting it down. I spent my entire weekend reading it. It has been a very long time since I have experienced such emotion with every turn of the page. My empathy for Dominick Birdsey knew no bounds. I highly recomend this book for anyone who feels emotionally stagnant. This novel will gine you an emotional jumpstart.

Summary: Wally Lamb has done it again!
Review: After having read She's Come Undone, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Mr. Lamb's next novel. I immediately ran to the bookstore and found a 900-page, heavy to lift, novel about twins. At first I was unsure of whether I Know This Much is True would be able to hold my interest for the long haul. However, I found out, as will you, if you make the decision to read this wonderful book, that it was worth every minute I've invested. The novel is simply wonderful, causing the reader to both laugh and cry, share emotions with the character along the road. It reads quickly, as a matter of fact, and I found it very hard to put down, staying up late hours to read "just one more chapter" and carting it off in the car with me in case I had just a few minutes to kill. I Know This Much is True is a terrific journey, one that I know I will recommend to my friends and family. My only regret -- that it was over too soon. I miss all the many characters that over these past few weeks have come to hold a special place in my heart.

Summary: I Know This Much Is True
Review: This book is by far the best book I have ever read or feel I will ever read. You know that feeling that you have when you finish a book that touches you so deeply that it leaves you THIRSTY for more?... but you know you can't find a book that could fulfill you as much as the last did. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE BOOKS. This book will AFFECT you and make you CRAVE more Wally Lamb! I will honestly suffer emotionally if he never writes another book. The book was awesome... don't even bother reading anymore reviews just read the book....it is awesome!

Summary: Poetic? No. Lyrical? Yes.
Review: Let's face it - no one picking up "I Know This Much Is True" is going to be forced to tackle new ideas, introduce new words into their vocabulary, or swallow new medicine for age old plot devices. However, the casual reader isn't aware of this until the last page is closed, if he becomes aware of it at all. This is a very nicely written book, accessible to anyone with a desire to investigate beyond the beautiful cover photograph (yeah, that's what drew me to the book; what of it??)

For the most part, the plot is fairly predictable, down to the last page. However, Lamb magnificently anticipates this, and allows the reader to be treated as an adult. There are no "Crying Game" surprises thrown in our face; twists and ironies are introduced intelligently, and not rubbed into our faces. Only one time did I miss one of the "twist clues," when Thomas (the paranoid schizophrenic of the two twins) reveals that he may just have some insight as to who his father is. It's all tied in with the rest of Thomas's "I'm mentally unbalanced" dialogue, so it's easy to miss.

Does the book miss at all? Yeah, but only to a small extent, and you have to read through it to surpass it. When Dominic's grandfather's narrative is interspersed throughout the second half of the book, I initially found myself oh-godding every time the typeface changed for another set of Sicilian revelations. However, I found myself quickly poring through these pages for plot and character as the primary story. Time flows fluidly, albeit in many directions, throughout the book. Maddeningly at times, but not without a good payoff in the end.

Read this book, and enjoy it. Take your time with it so you can enjoy not the stilted and pedantic scribbling that is so easy to find from Lamb's contemporaries, but honestly lyrical magic on the paper.

Summary: 4 1/2 Stars
Review: Don't balk at this voluminous 900 page book. The only disappointing thing about this epic tale is that it had to end. I could have gone on reading for at least another 900 pages.

The reader is taken through the ins-and-outs of life in a violent home and its life-long ramifications. Lamb writes with compassion and depth.

The story is told by Dominick, a man in the prime of his life who is about to hit rock-bottom. Throughout the book, Dominick is searching to understand who he is, why he was spared his identical twin's fate, who his father is and ultimately, does this life hold meaning? More than anything or anyone else, Dominick struggles to come to terms with himself and the choices he has made. As his life quickly unravels, question after question demands his attention. The reader journeys with Dominick through the riddle of answers he is given.

Lamb has created a voice so real, I often felt like I was reading my own journal. The rhythm of language and casual style of grammar drop the reader directly in the center of action and thought. While at times Dominick's perspective is disgustingly callous, it is chillingly familiar.

_I Know This Much Is True_ receives my highest recommendation.

Summary: A complete story
Review: I read this book while in my first year of college. I found it difficult to stick to at first, probably because of school, but by the time I got to the middle of the book, I found myself putting homework aside just to read more. It is a great story full of love, confusion, and even a little mystery. I recommend this book to all serious readers.
