Summary: Smashing! Sensational! Rolling with Laughter!
Review: Mr. Moore's writing has always had a tendency to send me into fits of laughter known to last up to fifteen minutes. His latest, Island of the Sequined Love Nun, has not let me down. By the top of page 12 I had to take my first break to clear the tears. His humor goes unmatched in originality. There are no qualms about taking that step beyond. I have been following Mr. Moore's work since the beginning and I can honestly say, he only gets better. I dare mention nothing about the contents of this book because I feel it is the element of suprise that is the true prize when it comes to Mr. Moore's work. I beseech each and every one of you to read this book so that you too may know the joy, happiness and shear pleasure that this, Mr. Moore's fourth Masterpiece, can bring to your life

Summary: Who Says You Can't Find a Hilarious Suspense Page-turner?
Review: Christopher Moore has emerged as one of the most original writers of the decade....easily! In "Love Nun" he has managed to combine suspense, intrigue and side-splitting humor in an action-packed story that keeps you doubled over with laughter. Unlikely combination? I'll say, but to read it is to believe it. Moore is a writer whose sharp wit pierces the armor of reason, respectability, and righteousness with constant mirth and weird, good spirits. I can't recommend the book highly enough. I've already given away a half-dozen "must read" copies to friends. If you haven't read any of Moore's books, fill your shopping cart right now with "Practical Demonkeeping," Coyote Blue," Bloodsucking Fiends," and "Island of the Sequined Love Nun." You are in for a treat. Call in sick and read, read, read, and shout with laughter. No, I'm not Moore's father, brother, or even brother-in-law. Never met the guy and might even be afraid to go near somebody so goofy, but I can't put his books d

Summary: Worth the Wait
Review: Chris Moore has done it again. He has written a novel that has kept me reading until 3:00 in the morning. He is one of the few authors that can make me laugh out loud and have to put the book down to wipe tears from laughing so hard. It's a good thing that I bought 2 copies because my husband was as anxious as I to read Island of the Sequined Love Nun. We have read all of Chris's books and are already looking forward to the next one. I recommend Island of the Sequined Love Nun to everyone who loves to read and if you haven't read his other books, please do yourself a favor and start a search for them. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Review: Christopher Moore is emerging as one of the most original writers of the decade....easily! Summary: If want to get the flavor of a place, you have to go there.
Review: I spent a month in Micronesia researching this book, and mostof the time I was chagrined, shocked and just plainuncomfortable. It's one thing to watch guys on National Geographic living with the natives, it's quite another to do it yourself. Living simply, on a tropical Island, with no running water, bathroom facilities, electricity, or, for that matter, chairs, might seem like a dream to a lot of people. My advice is to keep it in the dream realm -- don't try it. The first time you awake from your comfortable bed on the dirt to find hermit crabs crawling all over you, the dream tarnishes a bit. Still, the people there were very kind, and very funny, and I think the book reflects that.. The main character, Tucker Case, is a just a geek in a cool guy's body. He's attractive to women, but he doesn't quite get why. I thought, what better guy to put on a tropical island with a mad doctor, a crazed sex goddess, a Filipeno transvestite navigator and a talking fruit bat. Seemd perfectly logical to me.

Summary: The Best Book of 1997
Review: A perfect 10 is the best way to describe the hilarious book by Christopher Moore. For all of us believing Moore couldn't possilbly get better, "Island of the Sequined Love Nun" taught a valuable lesson. He did get better. This book is impossible to put down from the first page and it is laugh out loud funny. Tucker Case, his friends and foes are the most entertaining characters I've encountered. From Tuck's injury trying to assist a hooker in her quest to join the mile high club, to a transvestite navigator with a talking fruit bat, this book keeps you laughing. Chris Moore didn't waste a word on this wonderfully written book. Even without the humor, the story would have kept my fingers rapidly turning the pages. Surely, this gem deserves more than a perfect 10. "Island of the Sequined Love Nun" is a treasure! Erma Arthu

Summary: Farce, Fantasy and Funny!
Review: Hilarious -- what more can be said? Moore's best work to date has a drunken pilot with more problems than you can imagine, a Micronesian cargo cult, a tranvestite Philipino Navigator (with his talking bat, Roberto), missionaries that are truly up to some nefarious business and a WWII vintage ghost orchestrating the whole shebang. If you have never read Christopher Moore you have truly missed out on some incredibly droll humor mixed with social satire and equal opportunity offending of tender sensibilities! Highly recommended

Summary: Quirky, Funny and Keeps you hooked.
Review: For a while there I went through this phase of not being able to get into a book. Then I discovered the Island of the Sequined Love Nun, by Christopher Moore. I enjoyed this book more than The past three books that I have read. There were great funny scenes, and the storyline was so wild that you can't imagine how he came up with it!!! I also read the Melancholy Cove book by Christopher Moore, but the island of the sequined love nun is about 10 times better!!!

The whole book reads pretty easy. The chapters almost read like scenes in a script, which made it really easy to visualize what everything was in your mind. I love books like this. It really invoked imagination on my part, and I had a hard time putting the book down. If you can't read a book straight through like I did, Christopher Moore did a great job of breaking up the chapters into small segments, so you can read a little here and there without feeling like you're putting the book down mid chapter.

Kudos Christopher Moore for writing a book that finally hooked me!! This book is fantastic!

Summary: My first Christopher Moore, but not my last.
Review: ***** I MEANT TO GIVE THIS 5 STARS, BUT CAN'T EDIT THE RATING, SO I'M ADDING THIS TO THE REVIEW. *****

OMG. It's hard to believe there's someone out flying under my reading radar that's writing such hysterical, irreverent, yet surprisingly touching and insightful work.

ISLAND OF THE SEQUINED LOVE NUN was my first Christopher Moore book, but it will NOT be my last.

I have a feeling Moore musta spent some time on the payroll of Mary Kay or BeautiControl. ;-) Otherwise, how could he have so much insight into the way a corporation like "Mary Jean Cosmetics" works. . .or the idea of a pink corporate jet?

Tucker Case, pilot and self-described "a geek in cool guy's body," is in a world of trouble AND hurt when he crashes Mary Jean's jet during a "delicate" moment with a lady of ill repute. He loses his pilot's license, but finds a job custom-made for him on a secluded island in the south Pacific.

How Tucker gets to the island is a story in and of itself. What he does when he gets there is the icing on the cake.

Moore's twisted humor and irony is not for everyone. But, if you've ever "puffed, puffed, passed," this is your guy. His plot line is not as simple as it might appear and things are never as they seem.

World War II pilot Vincent, cross-dressing Kimmi, the old cannibal and a talking bat named Roberto are fresh voices and belong in a completely new genre of fiction. In fact, I'd like to know more about Roberto . . . and I'd like to see how Vincent's card game is coming and if Kimmi is teaching "the guys" how to navigate.

This is one of the best reads I've had in years.

Enjoy!
