Rating: Summary: Tia is the best new author of the Year Review: Can you say fabulous? That is exactly what this book is. The cover is what first caught my attention, then I read the front flap and discovered it wasn't just another "wrong side of the tracks" book. It was real and direct. I felt the characters and their struggles as if they were my own. Billie and Jay were strong in their own ways standing by each other without being judgemental of the others' lifestyle. This book was not only about beauty and fashion, it was about Jays' fight to survive the streets and become a better, more mature person. THIS BOOK IS A MUST HAVE.CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE......
Rating: Summary: A heroine I've been waiting for! Review: I didn't know this until I read Tia Williams' debut novel, but I've been waiting to read about a woman like Billie Burke. Finally, a heroine I can relate to! She's a multi-dimensional character whose love life is hopelessly conflicted with her career, among other things. Any career woman, no matter age or race, can find something in common with Billie. Williams' writing is funny and honest, and I couldn't put her book down once I picked it up!
Rating: Summary: The Accidental Diva Review: I enjoyed this book so much that I almost cried when it was over. I wanted more, but I was satisfied in knowing that there may be a part 2 in this fascinating love story.
Billie Burke is the beauty editor for Du Jour!, the trendiest and hottest magazine out there. To her, its all about getting her work done and spending quality time with her two very best friends. She hasn't had a boyfriend since college and has gotten used to things being that way ... that is until a hurricane by the name of Jay Lane enters her world and sweeps her off of her feet.
Jay Lane, the hard-hitting Brooklyn thug turned actor/successful writer exudes all things sexy, jagged, responsive and amorous. Billie has never felt this way before ... this love thing feels really good. So good in fact that she finds herself slipping at work and dedicating all her time, her energy and most of all herself into her relationship with Jay. What they have is so real. The kind of love where it literally hurts to be separated from each other for more than 2 seconds. The kind of love where you feel if you hold on tight enough the two of you will literally become one. We can't help but to love and support Jay when a certain someone (who he has been lying about and keeping secret from Billie) from his tumultuous past threatens to put an end to the sweetest thing the pair has ever known.
Never before in chick lit have I read about such a bona fide super fly relationship. Tia Williams has really done it with this one. Pick this book up, its worth it.
Rating: Summary: Sexy, smart, and sassy Review: I loved this adorable, fun, funny read. It's beautifully written--the story is layered enough to make it a page-turner, light enough to let you skim along happily. You'll feel you know the characters well by the end, and you'll wish you could find out how their lives turn out. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to read a sequel one day!
Rating: Summary: Black Women and Beauty...the Novel Review: I loved this book so much! Maybe it thrilled me so much because my dream is to become a beauty editor just like Billie, the main character. This book was great because it showed the side of many black people that we don't get to understand, the sista or brother living a "white" life. Billie does struggle being in a world where lots of sistas don't like the fact that she writes about hair, makeup and skincare, because many sistas are into being natural all the time. She takes us on an inside look of the beauty scene, with its promotional parties and luncheons, and the glamour of dressing city chic all the time. Let's not forget that the love story is so down to earth, it feels comforting to read. I recommend this book to sistas and brothas alike!
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I totally agree that it did start off slow but I think the author purposely did that because the charcter's life was a bit bore too. Once she met her man, the book was not going down until I read it cover to cover! One word-EXCELLENT!
Rating: Summary: Billie is fabulous Review: Saw the preview in Cosmo and just had to have this book. Loved the story lines going back to each individual characters history, getting to know them personally. Only a couple of sex scenes, but they were hot! Billie is such a strong women with a fabulous life, and Jay, well he is mad hot! Give it a try, new author, hopefully more to come.
Rating: Summary: I loved this story Review: The Accidental Diva Tia Williams 5 starsAt 26, Billie Burke is the beauty editor at a top fashion magazine, a workaholic who hasn't had a boyfriend or sex in Five years. Plagued with migraines and tons of free beauty products Billie is ready to take the fashion world by storm until she is knocked off her feet by Jay Lane, a charming writer who grew up rough and street smart unlike the suburban born Billie. I enjoyed this glimpse in to fashion world and the high energy it portrayed. The story of Billie and Jay was a true account of how opposites attract. I found myself rooting for them. I found Billie to be one of those sisters that everyone easily likes and I could relate to her. I found Jay to be sexy with the right amount of roughness, not overly thuggish. A brother that was charming, sexy and had a brain. This wasn't just another good girl meets bad boy story. This was a funny; hip story about two people at the start of their careers who get blind-sided by love.(...)

Rating: Summary: Ms. Prissy meets Hip/Hop Flavor Review: This book starts of pretty slow. It does pick up after the second or third chapter. I think this book would really be enjoyed by younger readers. All of the Characters are young and their behavior fits in with the younger crowd. Billie and Jay toy around with alot of different situations that again speaks to the younger generation. Overall I think that the book was well written. Her research was on point and readers got a nice peek into the beauty industry.
