Rating: Summary: First Time Cussler/Pitt Reader Review: This was my first time out with both Clive Cussler and the, always thinking, Dirk Pitt. The series was recommended to me my a friend, and I was not disappointed. I found the "Pacific Vortex" by reading all the reviews for the various books, and decided to start my journey with Dirk where Mr. Cussler started it, by looking for a lost submarine in the Pacific ocean. Although in this adventure Dirk sort of reminds me of "Magnum P.I.", I'm betting that more depth to his life will be revealed in the next books. I have sense ordered more Clive Cussler/Dirk Pitt books and am eagerly awaiting their arrival. If his writing holds, which it sounds like it will from other reviews of these books, I may have to increase my reading time to other parts of my day! Thanks Mr. Cussler, for sharing the "Pacific Vortex" with us, and writing in a great style!
Rating: Summary: Good for a first novel, yet a bit dated Review: This was the first Dirk Pitt adventure and it was easy to see why it was not published until later on. But despite some far-fetched ideas this is a very entertaining story, and provides assorted chases, underwater action, beautiful women and Dirk being insubordinate as always. Good for a plane or beach read actually. On the whole, `Dragon`, `Sahara`, `Night Probe` and `Cyclops` remain kings!
Rating: Summary: Fast Read Review: This was the first of many Cussler books. It was such an easy read I was unable to put the book down. I have made a habbit of setting time aside for his books. His best to date is Atlantis Found!!!
Rating: Summary: A solid novel... Review: While this novel, although relased as one of the early-middle Dirk Pitt books. It was actually the first Dirk Pitt story that Clive ever wrote, and you can tell. It's not quite as in depth as most of his other works, but it's still a good solid read. Simply put - While maybe not the best Cussler book to start with, it's a must read for any serious Cussler fan.
