Review: I have read all of John Grisham's books, and I am a die-hard fan of his, but I found The Brethern to be disappointing. I usually devour his books and read them sometimes in one night because they are such page turners, but The Brethren I kept putting down because it was boring. I didn't care for any of the characters, the ending was lame, and the story line was very unrealistic. If you have to read this book, wait until it comes out in paperback, or borrow a friend's copy. You'll be glad you saved your money. Let's hope next year's book is better.

Summary: WHERE'S THE MISSING CHAPTER?
Review: I had to turn the page at the end hoping for another chapter. When I realized there wasn't another one, I put the book down disappointed. It was almost like Mr. Grisham was late for a golf game and was going to mail the manuscript on his way to tee off! I was so excited to read this book and it did only take a weekend to read. There was one "aha" point where I knew the two scenerios would somehow collide and that was what got me through the book. Wait for the paperback or you can have my copy! Ü

Review: The people who review at USA TODAY obviously missed the boat on this one. Grisham offers a sordid tale, with great characters, that is literally a page turner. No one is innocent, and the reader can choose whom to hate, dislike and or root for. The ultimate test for an author is "do your readers want to know what happens next...?" I couldn't wait! Bravo John Grisham...!

Review: Just like a rock group with a contract for so many albums a year, Grisham barely fulfilled his contract with Doubleday. I hope Doubleday doesn't renew his contract. Grisham laughs all the way to the bank, at the readers expense.

Review: A real disapointment, after his other offerings I was sure this would be a "cannot put down" Alas it started shallow and remained that way. Maybey the movie boy`s can re-write and add some depth?

Summary: There were no heros
Review: Ladies and Gentleman, in the world of politics and prison (interchanged), there are no heros. Disappointed in the ending tho... I kept waiting for the judges to get knocked off...but you know why they didn't...they helped Buster; they were the good guys (not the heros). I couldn't stop reading and read it in 7 hours. How much more that we know now on how the system works...thanks John

Review: This was by far the poorest written and sorry excuse for a plot I have read in a long time. I am a long-time fan of Grisham's for his interesting story-lines which are generally well written. this was pure Trash! I feel as though he has insulted all of us for not being intelligent enough to bother to write a decent story for. He can't need the money that much to write anything this bad! My last Grisham purchase

Summary: Redeeming qualities
Review: So I get a Amazon gift certificate for Christmas and I say to myself, gotta get the new Grishham. Loved the last 2 - The Street Lawyer & The Testament - they had people who you could root for and who ended up having some sort of redemption in their lives. In other words, all Grishham novels up to now had "anti-heroes", but they did the right things for the wrong reason, or the wrong things for the right reason. But there are no such characters in the Brethren. I think the author had so much bad feedback from the Testament that he had gone Christian or had lost his cynical touch, that he just gave us all cynicism and no heart in this book.

Summary: A good read that let me down
Review: With a clever plot, interesting characters, sharp doses of humor, and a fast pace, I raved over this book as I read it. But the final chapters were disappointing, if not unsettling. I realized that there wasn't a single, likable character throughout the story. I didn't mind the cynical theme, but I really didn't see justice served to those that deserved it. Does crime really pay?

Review: Without a doubt his poorest written book yet...and I was an avid fan! Shallow storylines that do not resolve, and the ending...it's as though he just decided to stop writing it!
